Hmmm, the next few days should be fairly interesting with respect to the power struggle and what Israel will have to say.

Saw the blurb on MSN. The article's main title was "Arafat Dead at 75," and the subtitle was "Palestinian Leader's Health has Declined."

Is it not implied by the fact that he... well, Died... that his health has declined? I dislike journalism.
2004-11-10, 11:43 PM #11
Meh...perhaps worded very badly but I think they were trying to say that he died because of health issues, not an assassination or whatever.

Fortunate for him he should be used to to the extreme heat already.

I just think it's funny.

The leader of a flagrantly poor people, the Palestinians, is one of the richest men in the world. It doesn't take a genius to figure out why.

I'm happy he's dead and the world will be much better with him burning in hell.

What? Like someone snuck in and turned his life support off?

Critical yet stable condition was all they could say during the past week. I see. Death is a pretty stable condition, right? Unless you're friends with Baron Samedi, Baron La Croix, or Baron Cimetiére.
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

We've all heard different reports of his death/continued existance in the last couple weeks or so. The funniest one was that they were saying "Well, he's in a deep coma" Well you know what, over here we call that death.

No, actually over here we still call that a deep coma.
2004-11-11, 11:12 AM #21
Just heard on the radio that he's still alive. All the death reports are false apparently.

Nah, he's dead.

And I'm glad he's finally gone. I think a new era of peace has begun for Israel, and Palestine as well.

Unless, of course, his successor is 10 times worse than he was...
2004-11-11, 11:25 AM #23
Er..I'm pretty sure he IS dead. I havent heard otherwise anywhere.

What?! The media here declared him officially dead this morning. If he's still alive after all, I'll laugh.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.
2004-11-11, 11:54 AM #25
Hehe, watch him pull a James Bond, you know, where they put him in a body bag and chuck him overboard but he's still alive. Now I'd laugh at that.

He's taking the piss.....

Actually, there's a serious difference between a deep coma and death: dead people don't need IV lines to stay in their current condition. From what I see as a consensus among the media, even Al-Jazeera, I would say that he's actually kicked the bucket now. I just hope that the sucessor is more willing to sue for peace with Israel... The mid-east crisis has been going on for what... 37 years? (58 if you count from the creation of Israel, instead of the 6-day war)

Amen.

I'm just afraid of his successor. It's bound to be someone far, far worse.

2004-11-11, 1:41 PM #32
Well, I think it's a little extreme to hope he's burning in hell. Has he done something personally harmful to you? I am in no way standing up for Arafat and his ways, but you should reconsider wishing eternal damnation upon a human being, even one as bad as he. I mean, was he any more of a murderer than Arial Sharon is now?

Dude, I think we know who Arial Sharon is (despite my most likely crappy spelling)

The sad part is that I've read at least one news article which treated the whole thing like it was the death of the greatest statesman ever. I mean, come on, the man practically invented modern terrorism...

*SMASHES HEAD ON WALL*

I don't even think I need to explain how ridiculous what you just said was...

But I will...cmon buddy..think before you type things. Hitler didn't harm me personally, so I guess I'm wrong in wanting him to burn in hell. After all, I didn't know any of those jews so why should I care?

What Delphian said was not ridiculous, however it perhaps could have been phrased better. He did, however, make a valid observation.

You have a point in your second paragraph, but does that still give you the right to condemn a man to eternal damnation? Who are you to pass judgement so freely? I really don't think you understand the full ramifications of what you're implying.

Hey hey, I'm not tryin to start no argument. I'm just stating my point.

The question isn't "Is it right to wish eternal damnation on someone?" The question is "Is God going to do what you want him to do?"
