You have the money to put together a computer with the specs necessary to play this game, you most likely have the money to get an internet connection if you already don't have one.

Dude, we already know it doesn't take a very hefty computer to play this game... To play it on full details... yeah, but to play it period... eh... no.

Seriously, what kind of idiots thinks it's false advertising because select stores decided to sell it early?

So you go into a McDonald's order a sandwich, go home, open the bad and inside it says "This sandwich is poisoned, we'll send you the antidote in 3 days"

They advertise that you can eat the sandwich, when in fact you cannot for 3 more days.

Bad analogy. Sandwiches go bad after 3 days, hell after 3 hours I wouldn't want to eat a mcdonalds sandwich. But a game is still just fine, and you do not need it to sustain yourself physically, nor mentally, nor in ANY other way. It's a game that Vivendi said would be released the 16th, not the 12th, not the 14th, so anyone who sells it before then is breaking the law, technically, and in fact my friend at EB told me a lot of EB managers got fired for selling it early.

I still don't understand what is with the hype... I mean people breaking the law to get it so many articles about it... so much contreversy... WHAT THE HELL IS SO BIG ABOUT THIS THING?

The first game 6 years ago still sells, the mods are still updated, there are still things being developed and created for it.

The sequel to a game that is one of the top 20 selling games of all TIME, is still alive and kicking, and is practically synonmous with first person shooter gaming. You tell me.

Did you ever play the original? I am replaying it right now, I've almost beat it again, and it is still one of the best games I have ever played, and HL2 will be even better.

yeah, i agree. I hope some group sticks it to valve by cracking the game and releasing it, I really do. It would serve valve right for being so paranoid and for alienating people w/o internet access.

The way to stop piracy is to lower prices. If you could get games for cheap, piracy would no longer be practical.

if you have a PC that can run this game at low settings using dx7 mode... you most likely have access to the internet... it's not requiring broadband people...

It states on the box, in the system requirements, that a 'net connection is required. This is like *****ing that HL2 won't run on your first-gen Geforce when the box states it requires better.

What are you guys complaining about? You clearly all have a net connection :p

When the hell did McDonalds start selling sandwiches?
2004-11-14, 5:42 PM #56
You have to have Internet access to play Half Life 2? News to me, haven't been here for a while. Valve didn't even make exceptions? Stupid.

I'm not complaining, though. It's preloading as I type this through Steam. And I've registered my Half Life Plat. Pack with it as well. So far, I don't think it's too bad. I've got all my games right here and Half Life 2 will be automatically updated when patchs come out. Plus on Tuesday I just have to come home and start her up. Whats so bad about this?
