8, 2, then 6. I like to move around making sure to keep out of sight until I see an enemy and either hit him from medium-long range with weapons like the 44 or bren or close in on him hard and fast with weapons like a thompson, then move on. But if I notice a pattern, like enemies using a certain path consistently, I will set up camp and pick them off as they appear. After a few kills in one position, I move to another that still has the area covered.

If the latter hasn't happened, I always make my movements towards the enemy spawn point or base. No point in roaming for me.

I'm a sot of 6 and 8 hybrid. I'm rather mobile, and normally carry several different types of weapons (such as, in halo, i'd normally have a sniper rifle and and eitehr a shotgun or needler) but my weapon of choice is a sniper rifle.

Also, in Conflict: Desert Storm, I'm definitly type 10. Chaz Ghostle, who i play with, always spends a good deal of the time yelling at me because i'm halfway across the city while he's carefully clearing street by street.

A combination of 6 and 8, but I'm versitile when it comes right down to it. I pretty much suck at FPSs, but if I've got a goal and a mission, I'm pretty freaking good. If I don't NEED to kill people, and I only need to complete a mission, my pacients far exceeds mine, and everyone elses skill. I am also usually the only one who runs out first. Usually, you can suprise more people with sneak tactics that way.

I base my FPS strategies on efficiency. I will kill you in the quickest way possible, and after you're dead, I will blow your carcass off of the catwalk to score another point (if you don't click-spawn fast enough, that's your problem, not mine).

I don't show mercy, and I'm not too proud to run away, due to the fact that often it's more efficient to gather health/armor than it is to die and start over with nothing.

I have a difficult time distinguishing between team colors, and I will shoot you straight in the chest/face if you even look like the enemy (if you're on my team, I will apologize). In other words, I shoot first, and ask questions later. Luckily, this tends to pay off for me, because most people are still trying to distinguish between the colors while I'm already mowing them down with my Lightsaber.

Sabers = Peace is fine and dandy, but the moment you move your mouse, or hit your direction key, I'll be on you like cheese on pizza, and I'm not worried about how you feel about it. I will then be waiting for you when you spawn, and I won't hesitate to stick a Rail Detonator to your face, regardless of whether or not you're unarmed (I've killed people with fists in real games, and they too are a weapon, in my mind).

When I'm alone, I'll do what I must to win, and when I'm on a team, I'll do what I must to make us victorious. Efficiency is the key to my strategies. I'm far from the best, in most games, but I enjoy the strategic element, and I strive to improve, each and every time I play.

P.S. Yes, I can sometimes be too serious about games, but the strategic factor is what makes it fun for me. When I'm just playing with m8's, I goof off just like everyone else.

I don't normally play on public servers, so I don't really see why you would think such a thing. I tend to stick to competitive games, which is what I enjoy, and so do those people who also frequent those types of servers. When I join random public servers, which is rare these days, I tend to goof off just as much as everyone else, but to me, competitive servers are the most fun. Sadly, I'm currently on a 28.8 connection, and don't get much competitive play, outside of JK, except for when I go to Lanwar and Million Man LAN.

We threw together a BF 1942 team at the last MML, and my whole team was taken out, so I went DM style and just started camping and assassinating people one by one. The other team was getting pissed off, and everyone was laughing, so they ended up pulling up 2-3 tanks and blasting me into oblivion, after they realized that I was going to keep killing their guys if they sent them in after me, haha.

Sorry if I wasn't clear in my initial post.

I charge at them with a non stop assault, don't give them time to counter and stick close to them, if they retreat, head 'em off at the pass and slice 'em.

I love people who do that. I just wait for you to come at me, do a 90 degree spin, and kick you to the ground. I'll even give you the honor of getting back up without being attacked. Rinse and Repeat.

And then there are the smart people who think by weaving to the side they can avoid my kicks. I just predict ahead of where they strafe (usually its the same direction), and roll. I appear right where they strafe at, and bam, kick in da face.

People REALLY hate me in JO CTF, because I'll stop a CTF runner dead in his tracks simply by kicking him to the ground and mercilessly sabering him on the ground. (Best way to assure a death. Kick em to the ground, saber throw, and heavy overhead swing. Works damn near every time.) Oh, and the rabbit jumpers who think they're so speedy. I nail their asses to the wall every time. They'll come to go speedin right past me, but at the last moment, I push em, and kick em to the ground. Oh so satisfying.

Somewhere between 1 and 5. I like getting in games where the point isn't to kill the opposition but to attain some greater goal (CTF etc). I grab some crazy weapon with flashy effects and use it to cause the other team to forget the greater purpose just by annoying the hell out of them. The more enemies who abandon the cause to try and kill me the better.

When you play CTF in TFC for HL1 (yay abbrevs) I'm the pyro who's running around like a psycho spraying everyone with fire to get their attention, then spraying someone else. If I die, who cares? The point is to derail the enemy's train of thought while my team makes a more rational effort.

I also love picking the fastest class, grabbing a melee weapon and running in circles clubbing the slowest class. It's very satisfying to kill a HWguy with a scout using the crowbar, watching them slowly rotate to shoot me while going all Tonya Harding on them. Always used a saber in Oasis in JK as well... less successfully, partly because some genius declared the saber as a "peace" request... which is utter nonsense. Despite Obi-wan's comments, attack 1 with the saber was the most reckless, graceless maneuver available outside of a rail jump and that's why I loved it.

The Speed-Rage-Circle-Strafe-Jumping approach to flag-running can get past that easily. The second I know my approach will fail, I /kill and start again, 10 attempts a minute from 2 flag-runners each and there is no way you'll have the force power to stop that without a very coordinated defense. Using speedy tactics combined with the wall-glide can save you even from the seasoned pull/pushers. I always stop runners in their tracks by throwing a thermal at them, far more useful than relying on force powers.

Type 9, but I prefer mines when I can get them.

Basically, I follow Martyn's strategy.

i'm 8 and 9 hybrid... depends on what game it is.

i prefer to strategise... but then i'm not the guy who quicksaves before every enemy contact (one of my friends does that then quickloads if he loses more than 15hp =P so dumb... you can't do that in real life. quickload if you die.)

I'm a 5 or 9. You could also say that I'm a ten but all my team mates rush on with me. Must've something to do with us playing mostly Broodwar. There I'm Zerg most of the time and just keep pounding my enemy until my main army is big enough to finish them off.
When we've got enough of SC and just want to have some mindless action we play UT CTF and there IMHO the only way to win is to pound the enemy on and on, without leaving him air to breath. I pick up whatever weapon I find along the way and use whatever is apropriate for the moment. Although I die more often then everyone else I also get the most kills (except on Face, there my team-mate, who is a really good and anoying sniper, gets most kills).
It's just funny as hell to rush on and on and get killed only to appear on their doorstep again only a few seconds later (feigning death has helped me a lot in gaining the reputation of being incredibly fast).
5 because it is just fun to kill someone in an unusual way. Nothing is more humiliating than being killed by someone with a sledgehammer or the teleporter. And I always use two enforcers if I can get my hands on a second one.

In SP mostly 8. My favourite games are the Thief games but I'm always very carefull in all games and quicksave very often. And get frustrated when I lose too much health.

I'm a 9-2 hybrid. I'll use any weapon I can lay me grubby paws on, but I'll minigun or flak 'em down given the chance.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

I've nailed speed-rage types while they were in the air with a front kick. Be kind of interestin to go at it with you :D

As for the wall running, yeah, that's hilariously fun to do :D

Compared to the people who were actually good at JO, I was poor. I struggled to get a single kill against them. There's a difference between people who use speed-rage and those who are good at using speed-rage. There's a very simple trick to flag-running: if your method of approach fails 3 times, change it.

Type 1: I like getting my hands dirty. I prefer to engage the enemy at close to point-blank range with meelee weapons like swords, pistols, or knives, or even my fists. The best way to kill someone is to beat, stab, or slash them to death.

Type 2: I like engaging the enemy at medium range with medium-powered weapons. Pretty much anything will do, as long as it shoots fast and turns anything in its path to swiss cheese. Accuracy is not too important. My mp5 or any other machine gun/assault rifle is my best friend. A minigun is best of all.

Type 3: I like anything that explodes. I like to run around maps lobbing grenades, firing rockets, or placing charges. I then retreat and wait for the bombs to do their work. In multiplayer games, people hate me.

Think I'm pretty much those rolled into one. Like in a recent game of DoD, I spawned then ran out to the battle. Immediately I got a grenade kill (it was pretty close range) then an SMG kill. Then I was able to run straight to the last flag after that and get another SMG kill, a pistol kill and a knife kill (all of them point blank) and got the last flag. It was nice to get 5 kills and the last flag without dying once. :D

I highly prefer to be closer to enemies though, I tend to hate long range because I can't see them as quickly. Since I commonly use the MP38, M1A1 or BAR it's much much faster to kill them upclose. Plus it's easier to learn enemy posisitions so you can hunt them out on the next spawn, it's beneficial to just rush and let your teammates take the bullet sprays. :p

Someone had a vendetta against me one game just because I snuck into axis base (on dod_avalanche) and knifed him while he was sniping from their double windows.

Really love leaving grenades behind (unprimed) near flag areas such as on dod_kalt. I rushed their last flag through the sewer and after capturing it I needed to make my way to capture their second flag. I tossed my two grenades (was an M1 Carbine) around their spawn unprimed. Even though I was killed before reaching the flag, when I respawned a message came up showing my grenade killed someone.

All of these rolled into one helps create very useful tactics. ;)

I'm mostly a 9 person. I'm the kind of person who takes time to learn all the moves, tricks, techniques, strategys, etc in a game. Hey, if the designers give it to you, why not use it is the way I think.
