I'm sorry, did JediGandalf say that? It doesn't look like it. Maybe you should STFU? Yes, I think that's best.

Well the topic of this hi-jack is that, Canada doesn't really directly influence countries like Congo and Uruguay any more than a lot of other major import/export nations, but the attitude seems like "Why should we give a damn about anyone else, we're better than them" Which is, in general, a bad attitude.

HAHAHAH

Saying America has about the same effect on the world as ANY other nation is downright ignorant. It's straight fact that we are the most influential and most powerful nation in the world. Period.

Proooooooooooooooooooooooooove it.

I would think CHINA is probably pretty influential right about now, and there's still a lot to be said for BRITAIN economically, and let's not forget RUSSIA. Yes, looks like the world doesn't revolve around your country, sorry to burst your bubble :(

And how do we measure this "influence"?

Mikus, it's a well-known fact that America accounts for over 50% of the world's exports.. just google it.

Oh wow. Does anyone else out there seriously not thing America's the most influential country? I mean I'm serious. Because as far as I know, even my (non-ignorant) Canadian friends think America is the single most influential country, period. And some of my British ones too.

Mikus--seriously, stop flaming and offending people with no reason. It's getting old, annoying, and downright stupid. Detty already told you to once, one would think you could at least heed his advice, seeing as how he's an Admin.

It was wrong of me to say that it is not the most influential, that is, obviously, true. It is NOT the only country that matters, and I'm sick of the Americans on this forum (Not all of them, obviously) acting like it is. I can't help it if you get offended that I don't think your nation is more important than everyone else's, because it's not. More powerful, yes. More influential, quite possibly, more important, most definitely not.

(And the influence of other G8 nations is comparable, if not equal, so my statement that you should stop acting like your the cat's pajamas and everyone should bow down, stands)

Who IS that? (Yes I am defying the picture... oh nos)

I'm not acting like that, and I don't expect everyone to bow down. I expect you and others to stop touting bull****, and to realize fact from fiction when they see it.

No one here ever said America's more important (though obviously, most people believe their country's more important to them. Why? They live there). But in the grand scheme of things, no one thinks America's more important than other nations. Well...except maybe Russia. All they do is get Evad's hopes up, get drunk, and lose nukes. :p

But seriously, America really is not-too-arguably more influential than any other country economically, politically, and socially. Our trends often bleed into other cultures after a few years pass, our politics often influence other countries' (or we force them to influence other countries', unfortunately), and we're the biggest trader in the world. Really, what else dictates influence?

Just thought it was interesting to note that the GDP of the USA is equal to the GDP of the entire EU. Per capita, though.. USA blows the EU out of the water.

Welsh is becoming slightly more acknowledged. The banks have to ask if you want your checkbook printed in it.

Oh, and Scotland is a country. Wiki says so, Britassians say so, Webster says so, Oxford says so, scotland.org says so.

And to get right back on topic, British makes me sound too European.

I wouldn't go so far to say that even 'most' people are patriots. In America yes, obviously. But Europe is mercifully devoid of any great 'national pride', and patriotism is generally reserved for old conservative men.
