I was really hoping Phil would snap out of his drug-induced stupor and get back with Dime, Vinny and Rex, but there's no point in bothering anymore. I just hope he's civil in his comments on Dime's death.

Columbus police Sgt. Brent Mall said the shooter appeared to be targeting the band members. After opening fire on the stage, the gunman turned on the crowd. At that point, an officer shot the man dead, Mall added. Police said there could have been many more fatalities had the officer not killed the gunman.

...I dont know why I used those tags... but...

How is shooting the band acceptable, yet once the gunman turns on the audience the police officer finally reacts????

Before I read the article I was like... who cares? The guy was a creep. Now I feel sorry for him. No one deserves to go out like that... but at least his death will be remembered.... if that's any comfort. Other metalheads will rap about him on their albums!

To be honest i'm not much of a Pantare fan but i always did love his articles in Guitar Magazine.... I learned alot from him in ways of chicken picking and fast licks and tricks. I hope Guitar world does something about him in next months mag.

It didn't say that he waited for the man to stop shooting the band and fire at the crowd. The guy was just doing his job the best he could, and you can imagine that it would take a bit of time to get a clear shot in a crowded, paniced concert. I like some of Pantera's stuff, and it truly is sad that he went that way. This may have a reaction on the way that all concert admissions are handled from now on. It may be like airport security now.

I dunno, this has happened before. It's such a limited occurence because usually people dont go to concerts for bloodsport.

Man, this sucks. Even if you didn't like Pantera/Damageplan, you had to respect Dimebag. He was always really cool in the interviews/movies I've seen. :(

this news really killed my day. I love pantera, and this was really unexpected that it set up the feeling for the rest of the day. Im really really really pissed about this news, and really sad at the same time cause he was such a great guitarist.

I saw Pantera live with White Zombie once, and although I'm not much into that type of music these days, at the time I thought it was a great show, and still think that Dimebag was a good guitarist.

Being contraversial isn't always funny, especially when someone has died.

I don't know much about the guy, but it's definitely unfortunate that something like this would happen, regardless of what type of music the artist played, or what his name was.

There's plenty of upset to go around. It's not like you can't be upset about those things and this.

I've never heard of Dimebag and I wouldn't like his music, but it is sad that he was killed.
I've heard speculation that he was killed because the shooter was mad about the fact that Pantera broke up.
