I posted a topic like this in the Matrix:Unplugged forums when this movie first came out......

Anyways, the action sequences was about all that was good(although I really liked the swarm of sentieles pounding the humans). Ending sucked. Fight between Neo and Smith was boring(after the someteenth time they created an explosion in the rain which resembels DBZ, sorry if I'm repeating everyone), Trinity's end: horrible, and... that's all I can think of.

Like people were saying: good as a rental, bad for buying(unless you really liked it, then go ahead and buy it).
No sig.

There's a lot of explosions and shooting and machine killing and then everyone dies.

The ending is really philosophical and takes weeks of intense study to understand. Do not attempt to explain it here ergo I kick your *** . Vis-a-vis your face.

Would have been better with Tank and the original Oracle, but WTH.

Neo = Jesus. That's it. That's the end. That's the depth of the philosophical background. It's not impressive, it doesn't take a genius to see "the end of the war = the dawn of the new day" type symbolism.

It's just a case of retarded movie fanatics pulling BS out of their asses to cover up the fact that the Wachowski brothers read a high school lit. textbook and tried to pretend to be something other than peddlers of mindless action (and, in case you didn't notice, this failed abysmally).

Frankly speaking, if it hadn't been a Matrix movie, it would have been an awful movie. We're talking the Core awful here. And it might as well not have been Matrix 3, since they spend a grand total of about 10 minutes in the Matrix, and all of it's just awful.
Instead of looking at it like a piece in the puzzle, look at it like a standalone film - the only reason it stands up to any scrutiny at all is because it wraps up the meager storyline established in the second movie.

P.S.: If you really feel the need to buy this trainwreck of an action film, please don't buy it at Blockbuster.

Jon`C: You're missing out. All three movies, but particularly the last, are stuffed with both throwaway allusions and consistent themes that extend beyond Neo as a messianic figure. Sure, Neo = Jesus, but Neo also equals the Übermensch, chaos, free will, an archetypal trickster and Superman. The trilogy is the triumph of brilliant imagery dragging simple concepts to some sort of artistic peak.

Good for you, bucko. Keep reaching for the stars or SARS or something.

Matrix Revolutions wasn't a very good movie. And, frankly, all of your vaunted "symbolism" regarding Neo can be condensed into two concepts: 1.) Neo = Jesus, the miracle worker who sacrifices himself for humanity. 2.) Blatant popular culture ripoffs, like - as you said - Superman and Dragonball Z and whatnot. The great thing about "throwaway" references is that, in a lot of cases, they're totally unintentional. So much has been written over the thousands of years of human history that, chances are, I'm plagiarizing someone right now.

And, frankly, saying that Neo is Loki? That's just a load of bullcrap. Anybody who has seen the final film knows that Neo isn't the agent of chaos or discord, or at least nobody who understands what the words "chaos" and "discord" mean would say it. Ultimately Neo cooperated with the AI. Ultimately Neo fought to maintain the status quo - two cities allowed to exist, Zion and 01.

Anybody else remember when someone posted a long dissertation about how Zion is the computer city because all of the people in it act robotic, almost as though they're just going through the motions of a real human life without quite understanding it or being a part of it?

In retrospect it's just because of poor acting.

You got to admit, that would had been cool if the plot was something like that. Neo discovering that the people of Zion were actually robots and all. Smith being the One in the past.

If you payed attention to the whole movie, you would see in the part where Neo and Morpheus are walking in the crowed sidewalk and the agent comes out of nowhere, Morphues explains that ANYONE is potentinally an agent, therefore if they let those gaurds live, an agent can easily become them and then the whole mission they were on would be ruined.

I found this completely SICK theory on past Neos, multiple Matrices and the end of the world : D I'll have to get it and post it here.

By the way, the cross of light when Neo dies is just a LITTLE too obvious, didn't like that part

And when they break through the clouds? C'mon! Humans haven't seen the sky in how long?!?! And the best thing Trinity can come up with is "It's Beautiful"?!?!?!?!?!?! They should have hovered up there and had some deep philosophical conversation, but NO, Trinity DIES!!! GAAHH!

Edit - Yeah, I think this is it, be warned, it is long, but it would have been IMO the best final plot.

the actor that played tank had contract disputes before reloaded was filmed, or so I heard, so thats why they didn't use him. they mentioned that he "died" in some obscure scene in reloaded.

The actress that played the original oracle died between reloaded and revolutions. They could have used a cardboard cut out of her, but that wouldn't have been convincing. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Jon, people are capable of picking out analogies that aren't painfully obvious and synthesizing opinions outside of insular groupthink. Give it a try.

For example, the club scene in Revolutions. Descending into Hell to speak with Hades (and Persephone) to get Neo out of Limbo. That much I got independently at the theater: it added interest and gave a neat spin to the scene. Afterward, I find out that the club was named Club Hel, that the three guards at the entrance were apparently wearing dog collars, and that Mobil is an anagram for Limbo. Obviously, the Wachoski brothers took some effort to make the imagery stick. It's not deep and profound, but neither are the movies. Instead, it adds effect to a stylized film that deals entirely in impressions. You don't jump for such things, great. As it is, you're playing the bizarre, inverted sucker to the Truth Media bait.

Suddenly it's about retelling the bible and other religious things, when neither of the other movies had absolutelly nothing to do with those themes and it was an original and badass story. Let's face it, after the first movie, they said "One more" during the filming of the second they said "Last one" at the end of the second, we all said "What next?" then the thrilling suspense that they could have easily left us with, what could have been a thrilling suspense that movie critics and more would discuss for years to come as one of the best artistic endings ever in a movie, they pulled the piling heave of **** that is number 3. Notice how all of these people suddenly disapear after the second movie (Granted one died) and new characters are introduced? The matrix contract was for 2 movies. The stars just didn't want to let down the fans by not doing the 3rd. The lesser actors disapeared. Chances are, Morpheous' lack of speech is probably due to a fall-out in his contract. His shots may even be from Reloaded, but weren't used. I really wouldn't be suprised. They plan the ending to be in #2 with him at the gates of zion, then throw it in #3.

I'd also like to bring attention to the fact that Reloaded, hence the name, was a massive action title. Also notice Revelution's title, highly similar to Revelations... Religious movie.

... You forget that the original mimicked the bible as much, if note more so than Revolutions.

Also, your reasoning is flawed in the fact that, Reloaded and Revolutions were filmed at the same time. Why would they film the third movie, if they intended to end it with the second?

And I'd like to see some examples of characters "dissappearing" between movies, as I can't think of any.

OK, I'm going to stick my neck out just this one time ( [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]) and say:

They're movies - plain and simple. Sure there are some hidden references, some obscure references some rather blatant references, but everyone and I mean everyone is entitled to get whatever they want out of a film. Irrespective of whether you read into the Matrix storyline 5 references or 500, everyone goes away with their own thoughts on the movies. Some people watch them for pleasure - I myself enjoyed the spectacles and fancy visuals; they were neatly executed. As for the plot - as I say, it's a "levels" thing - sure we all knew (or could have guessed, once we saw that Hugo Weaving was playing Agent Smith again) that the "Neo vs Smith" scenario would end up being the focal point; a fight that would finally place "balance" or establish some sort of equilibrium between the machines and humans; real-world and fake-world. Again, personally, I liked the issue of touching upon "how do we really know whether we're awake or still dreaming" in the original, but that's just me [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif].

It's this that I believe that's the important thing - films are just films and are made for entertainment. Sure - they're made for money as well, but your average cinema-goer just wants that "movie experience" and when I watched (and now with the DVDs "watch) them, I get to re-live that experience. If the film didn't do it for you, then you simply don't watch it again; just because you didn't enjoy it, it's no reason to tell other people that the film sucks, as I believe they are more than capable of "making up their own dam*** mind" [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

I see what you are trying to get at but I just wanted to make a few points:

1. Some people like plot, and people complain that Reloaded and Revolutions didn't have much of this(from their viewpoint).

2. About your visuals comment, I liked alot of those in the movie, but as I previously said, if you keeping doing the same visual over and over, then it gets very dull. People also don't like the fact that there were rip-offs written all over certain scenes. I agree with them on this.

3. Yes, I also agree that are people that say ,"Oh this movie sucks, don't go see it!". Everyone has their own opinion on this movie and they should see it if they want to, I'm not stopping anyone.

Yes, I agree I'm gutting this movie, but I consider it my opinion and people can either listen to my points or ignore me altogether.
