the most ****kicking website ever. EVER.

Well this thread certainly got derailed... good job I didn't like it anyways.

Yeah, it rhymes with spit.

Mentat and SAJN_Master have really got it. The entire point of the site as far as I'm aware is to showcase some really leet flash skills. It also showcases web design, some photoshop work, and musical talent.

You cannot argue that the visual aspect of it overshadows the content. You're correct, when you strip it away, there is very little left. That's because, as has been previously mentioned, the animation and music is the content. It's just an advertisement. You can make the point that you wouldn't want a website to look like that because it impedes ease of use, but this website's visual content doesn't impede your use of it. The animation is the content >_<.

I hope we can at least agree that while the site may not live up to what we want it to do, it excels at what it tries to do?

My points seemed to have been missed again and again and again. Okay yes, this is for showcasing his flash abilities... but there are still huge organizational errors.

The selection for which type (broadband or 56k) should come before anything.
Menus that take forever to load to do a simple thing are not user friendly.

Please, just read over my posts... I really dont want to repeat myself again.

"the show-off site is supposed to show-off"

Have you bothered looking at the real work sites

The same criticism applies

Eh, I've seen better ones. Sites like 2advanced and Flashlevel blow this one out of the water flash-wise, while sites like Pixelbrick are just way more professional.

It's not terribly bad, but I really hate the pixel fonts. There seemed to be an awful lot of loading as well, but I didn't notice on this reasonably fast connection. Some of the sites had way too much animation, so much so that the download time was shorter than clicking on a link and watching an animation. The animations were well done, albiet there was just too much. I didn't bother to look at the HTML, since each page is probably just an embed tag. The graphics are amateurish in general; seems like a lot of the stuff that was trendy a few years ago.

This site does have style. But it lacks in flexibility. :p

Jesus, you guys must have horrible connections or something. Even the 'whiz bang over the top' version loaded in about 10 seconds for me, and all the little sub-pages loaded instantly. 0.o
DO NOT WANT.

Zell, the option to choose the 56k version of the site came AFTER a fairly hefty pre-intro, that's bad design.

Now now, we don't have to bicker, and argue, over...who killed who. This is a happy day!

That 2advanced one is quite nice, it's going for trying to be a whole user-interface and it works well. It also loads far faster and looks better.

Nearly all my comments applied to the showcase portion. By the way, the site ISN'T to showcase his flash, especially if it's got a showcase section in it. If I'm looking for a web-designer, I want to see his web-design skills, not his ability to impress me.

Not to mention, internal linking is impossible with flash, which is a GREAT negative for a showcase site, as it's difficult to cite specific pages of your portfolio in your resume. A bad move.

And lastly, it DID take a while to load, and I've got a booming 3meg connection. It probably took 20 seconds to load each time it showed a loading screen.

Oh, and there's a reason we're not just saying 'spiffy!' and moving on. Because we don't think it's 'spiffy' and we're not going to move on for your sake. Seriously, you people act like we're just supposed to accept all forms of stimulation as good. "Hey look, I'm being burned! SPIFFY!"

Exactly my point. There are a loty of nice sites out there that outclass this one. I happen to lke Firewheel Design as well.

Only thing I can suggest is to keep working at it. I always find that the first feew versions will probably suck; talent comes with much trial and error.

That's a very nice one. I like the high-tech aspect of it... and the moody music. The thing I like about webfeatsdesign is the text/solid color animation and the music, mostly.

www.flashlevel.com seems a little lacking in the animation department, but it's really clean and smooth... the blendings and transitions are very nice.

Both of those sites are less loud and flashy than webfeats, which is prolly why you like 'em more. When you look at it from that standpoint, it's a personal preference issue, but yes, I do agree that they are better than WFD in terms of... usability, navigation, and professional use...

I just like the appeal o' WFD. It's not better that the others.

QFE. You cant get better at something unless someone tells you what you did wrong.

MB here is the only (well perhaps not only. i read until middle of page 2 because everyone said the same thing over and over again.) person who approached the site in a non-condescending tone of constructive criticism. This isnt #TACC here. its not a requirement to be an elitist *******.

Thank you MB. you can sit in on any crit of mine.

now, on topic:

its pretty snazzy. i was bored browsing massassi and clicked on the link. it entertained me, albeiet briefly. the music and effects were appropriate to the animations, and fairly pleasing. some of the art wasnt exactly my kind of thing, but hey no one can like everything a person does.

it served a purpose for me. therefore, in my opinion, its not a bad site. maybe not the ____kickingest site ever, but definitely not horrible. the music and effects were appropriate to the animations, and fairly pleasing. some of the art wasnt exactly my kind of thing, but hey no one can like everything a person does.

I take the stance that any site that I can't view in Lynx is a poorly designed site. When at home, and on dial-up that acts like its 28.8kbps (I live kind of far out of town, where phone line quality is poor), Lynx is the fastest way to surf the net and find what I want. If I need pictures, I'll open up Firefox and have at it. True, I could view pages with images disabled in Firefox, but it still loads CSS and other elements that Lynx doesn't. Lynx++

That being said, my Win32 version of Lynx is broke. It puts a whole page of whitespace in between the text and the commands, and scrolls down to the commands by default. Anyone know of a reason for this?
