Tell us all about the tiny little things in life/the internet that really grind on you.

I, like many people, know exactly what I hate:

• When people use 'so' in the following fashion: "It was soooooo good". It's as if they're attempting to emphasize the fact that it was good, and their brain is trying desperately to find an appropriate "big" word, but ultimately settles with simply lengthening a smaller one. This one is particularly annoying when used on the internet.
• When you're sitting on one of those chairs that uses a lever to alter the height at which you're sitting, and some idiot pulls on the lever and your weight pushes the chair down. And then they laugh as if it's the funniest thing ever. Argh!
• Spyware. Malice incarnate.

One of my main pet peeves regards music, people who think that "underground" or ""hardcore"" makes something better and ""mainstream"" makes it crap, and anyone who likes ""mainstream"" can't like ""hardcore"" or ""underground"" without being a "poser"

I am annoyed by goths who think they are being unique individuals. I also hate punk music and heavy metal, and 50 cent and G-unit.

I only like hard rock if it's from the 70's-80's.

I hate. Hate. HATE. HATE people who think being depressed and saying things like "omq leik liff = teh dreemz" or "liff is r teh bad". One of my friends recently ditched us and thinks we're uncool and stuff now because we aren't like this. *sigh*

Yeah I hate people like that too. Unless they have real problems, but most of them don't...at all.

The Internal Revenue Service, Walmart, and people who think they're better than everyone else.

What?!? How can you hate heavy metal??! Heavy metal, when done correctly, is the truest form of music. It is the closest type of music you can find today that resembles classical music the most (and classical music is the most artistic genre). The key changes and time signature changes, everything else is just too plain for me. Country music is just a bunch of middle aged men whining about their dogs running away or their "woman" leaving them. Hip-Hop is just sex-driven or "gangsta" life style influenced.
Who made you God to say "I'll take your life from you"?

I prefer extremely technical Bluegrass and Electronica. Heavy Metal is good too, though. :)
2004-12-19, 5:26 PM #14
I prefer broadway, oldies and classic rock, but that's just me
but I definitely have to agree with Mikus.

Fincham: I meant where are you sitting. This wasn't an existential question.

Heavy Metal is boring and I hate listening to it. It's a freakin matter of opinion, and I hate it.

Shh... this thread is not about music. People have the right to hate what they want, everyone shush about music unless you're talking about how it annoys you.

-56k connections
-fingerprints on computer screens. THEY AREN'T TOUCH SCREENS, PEOPLE!!!! IF YOU NEED TO POINT AT SOMETHING, USE THE F***ING MOUSE!!!
-spam e-mail (also viruses, malware, spyware, etc.)
-when my roommate tries to print something on my printer, hits the "print" button fifteen thousand times, and then leaves me to fix it.

The Sunday Night Sex Show bugs the hell out of me. Something about some old lady telling people how to have anal intercourse is not normal.

Note - long, get some free time.

I hate those young college Americans who pretend to be the intellectual elite of the planet. You know who I'm talking about, you see them inside Starbuck's, sucking on their grande mocha frappuccinos with creme, smartly dressed, and with the latest Mac laptops and Apple I-Pods. Discussing world issues and politics, not really giving a damn more than they would about the hobbo sitting across the street. At least thats the impression they would give if you asked them what they've done for other people in their lives. They sit and ponder over a false sense of righteousness because they, and no one else, realizes that there is something wrong with the world. But in all their infinite wisdom they fail to see that the only reason they have the things they do is because they transcribe to the world they so much "reject." They don't reject how the world works. If they did, they would not be living the comfortable chique lifestyles that they do.

Ghandi, M L King, Mother Teresa. These were people who gave up their lives to help people. They did not spend their lives complaining about injustices while doing nothing to prevent them.

I especially hate when these people look down on others as socially or scholarly unqualified to be part of their circle. Their selectiveness is reserved for only those who share the same views and latte flavor as them, and I find that these people can be the most resentful and unaccepting of all groups in this nation.

As a member of the college community, it annoys the hell out of me to see intelligent young minds miss the entire point of their existence. They fail to see that in all their concerns about world hunger, their $40,000 a year for college could feed 150 kids in Ethiopia. If they cared so much about world hunger, then they would do something about it. And it's better know you could have done something for someone when you didn't, then to pretend you are doing something great for everyone while in-fact you've done nothing.

They have well-constructed arguments that demonstrate the need for change, but without action, well-constructed arguments mean ****. Real world people who go out and do things for others are infinitely more noble than the hypocrits that I constantly have to deal with.

I recognize the fact that not everyone who is young, smart, in college, a frappuccino drinker, or American is necessarily like this. But it's the ones that do nothing with their great minds, meanwhile the world rotting around them, perpetually living in their self-constructed dream-world to put their souls at ease, that is everything that I continually have to fight to maintain sanity in this world.

That is the tiny little thing in life/the internet that really grinds on me.;)

I hope their are some people out there who notice the same things I do, I don't want to be the only one :(

It's also quite bothersome to hear an old lady telling you the proper way to grasp a penis.

I don't like it when people who think that they're open minded free thinkers, but really spend all their time bashing political opponents with our ever coming up with actual arguments.

I also agree with thauruin 100%

-People who are goth or punk for the sake of being 'rebels.'

-People who carry strong political views without factual backing (ie. Bush is bad president because he is dumb lol!).

-People who overuse 'owned' and derivitives of it.

-Religion and false assumptions in general.

First and most importantly, the fact that I STILL don't have my driver license!

The rest are in no particular order.

When people don't use turn signals when driving. How the hell am I supposed to know if you're going straight or turning?

The way my parents (and of all the ppl I know personally, the only parents) who consider ALL 'm' games and most 'R' movies inappropriate material for ALL people of ALL ages REGARDLESS of actual content.

Hackers, spackers (wtf?), spyware, viruses... essentially all the b******s who try to fork up your computer.

My brothers acting like complete idiots and doing the most retarded things they know they should not be doing.

The number of people who say that life is not full of it when it really is. (j/k)
