What is the first computer game you ever played?

Mine was the Journeyman Project: Turbo in 1996. It wasn't even a true 3d game, since the graphics, although very good for the time, were pre-rendered and were stored as long .avi files on the cd. You navigated by clicking forward, backwards, turn left, turn right, etc. buttons in the HUD, and the avi clip jumped to a different place in the clip to show your new POV. ( It was more like a skip-around video player with a plot. )

Commander Keen

if you mean a "3d" game, then i would say

Wolfenstein 3D (the old doom-style one)
I can't wait for the day schools get the money they need, and the military has to hold bake sales to afford bombs.

Weather Disaster (If you don't include the Commodore 64)

That game is still one of my favorite games. Even though it's educational. It's just so much fun.
Think while it's still legal.

X-Wing or MechWarrior 2. I can't remember which. My stepdad bought X-Wing and a Sidewinder joystick at the same time, and the Sidewinder came with MW2. After that it was Dark Forces.
I have a signature.

Well, if simple BASIC games written on a Commodore Plus/4 don't count, then I think it was Heroes of the Lance or one of the other SSI games that came out around that time.

Probably one of the Space Quests.....although I do recall playing some crappy space invaders type game before that, but it's not a 'real' game on any grand scale.
2004-12-23, 7:45 PM #26
It was either duke nukem, or dark forces. Can't quite remember. Oh oh oh! Chips Challenge.

Chips Challenge, Pipe Dream, Ski-Free, CotW, and Wolf-3d are all the earliest pc games I can remember playing. OH Commandeer Keen, too. First PC game I owned was JK, got it in 97 along with my first computer.

Asteroids; also Flight Simulator, on some old Atari 520. Ahh... those were the good old days. Of course, I was only three years old at the time... (so was the computer)

Not counting all those commidore games whose names I can't possibly remember, Doom.
2004-12-23, 8:42 PM #34
Probably Space Invaders for DOS, but I played pretty much all of the DOS classics. Ahhh, I miss the days when video games were capable of frightening me.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?

3d shooter, I'd say Descent, shareware version.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

That was so long ago...hmm.

Space invaders, Battleship, Falcon AT, Chessmaster 2000..

Star Trek

Ah the 80's. It was basically a text game with sound. It was my grandpa's game on a computer with an all green text monitor. The "graphics" had the Enterprise look like this: (*)

And of course the stars looked like this: *

And the Klingon ships looked like this: K

To fire at the ship you'd have to type TOR and then enter the direction you want to fire. If you hit it it says, in a real voice, "Klingon destroyed! Good shot sir! Klingon destroyed!"

But the first PC game that was ever owned by me was X-Wing vs Tie Fighter. Before that it was all about the original Sega and years later the Sega Genesis. I used to play the original After Burner on Sega so long that I could smell the plastic inside the system start to get hot. I was like 5 years old. The trick was to just hold down one direction and keep shooting missiles the whole time, and they could never kill you... My parents said I was "cheating" and I thought "how can I be cheating if the game lets me do it?" This was also before games had cheat codes, I think.

I think it must have been Karateka on a "Laser 128" computer with state-of-the-art amber and black graphics.
