What is the first computer game you ever played?
2004-12-23, 9:41 PM #41
Marathon. Followed by Myst, than Marathon 2: Durandal, and Marathon: Infinity.

Bungie owned my childhood for awhile. Which was fine with me, because those games owned, and still own.

That'd be mine, for 20 cents a pop down at the local fish and chip shop.

First console game would have been the original Ninja Turtles game on the NES. That game ruled.

First PC game... Probably Leisure Suit Larry over at a friends house after school before his mother got home. Good times.

Some variation for 'Missile Command' for Macintosh Plus.

First PC game was Wolfenstein 3D though.

The first computer game I can remember playing is an old Ducktails game, which was like a bunch of mini games, where you played as Scrooge and Launchpad and Hewey Dewey and Lewey, and you were trying to get more money than that other scottish duck that wore a kilt.

The first 3D game I can remember is probably MechWarrior ONE. My friend and I just thought it was the bee's knees.

either Pharoah's Tomb or the PC clone of Bubble Bobble
2004-12-24, 6:56 AM #51
First game ever: Probably Commander Keen.

First GOOD game ever: Myst. Hot damn that game rocked. Journeyman Project had nothing on it.

First Console game ever: Super Mario World. That game rocked also. Was the only game my grandpa would actually play with me.

First Hand-Held game: Super Mario Land. That game was so freakin hard. It was unforgiving, it was LONG (especially considering that the game had no save or password function), and was pretty damn small resolution. (It made some jumps just pure luck instead of skill.) I still dumped hours upon hours into that game though. Next was Faceball 2000. That was a fun one. Oh, and there was tetris, played that a lot too.

TV Tennis on the old Binatone system. Mega fun.

First proper computer game, probably a version of Battleships that my dad wrote. Then onto things like Gauntlet, Ghosts and Goblins (C64)

First pc game was, I believe Doom. Also Duke3D and things like Normality (Damn, I've gotta get a copy of that game now)
"Whats that for?" "Thats the machine that goes 'ping'" PING!

On dad's ol'e 286 :) Sometime around 1989-1992
Alley Cat or Paratrooper
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.
2004-12-24, 10:08 AM #56
It was either Alleycat or another classic, like Digger. I really don't remember, but those are the kinds of games that we played. We played Q-Bert, too, but I don't think that was the first computer game I'd ever played.

Doom, Sim City 2000 or Syndicate. Can't remember which.

Actually, that's a lie. The first first game was Zool on the Amiga 600.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

I'm not completely sure, but I think it was Mechwarrior on a Tandy 1000. That is an awesome game.

Yes! One of my favorite games on my math teacher's Apple IIe's she let us mess around on in 7th grade.

But the first computer game I played was Oilswell, a ripoff of Pac-man.

First CD game, which I ended up purchasing $200 worth of hardware to play (new video card and sound card) was the Journeyman Project Turbo. Which I finished completely on my own without hints, unlike Myst. I never had the patience to fully play through Myst, though I thought it was very pretty.

First 3D game? It's a toss-up between Doom, Wolfenstein, and Terminal Velocity. Ahhh, Terminal Velocity, that was a great game. TV > Descent.

Not counting commodore stuff, or spectrum, I'd plump for Police Quest on my dad's 286. 20 meg HD, 2meg RAM, 16 colours in game - classy.
2004-12-25, 4:46 AM #74
It was Lemmings ... I played it on a "Sinclair 128" (i am not sure of the number)
And it was G-Mans first game too...he just didnt remember because he was just 5 years old ;D

so, i'm not the only one. How did you like it?

Cripes - talk about nostalgia here people ;). My first PC game that I ever played (and owned) was either JK or "Sensible World of Soccer" (SWOS) - to be honest, I forget now - I'm leaning more towards JK, because I know that it claimed (only just) more hours of my life at that time - now I edit components of that game for pleasure so the longevity factor still remains... either that or I need to get out more... ;).

However, first game ever played... hmmm... perhaps "Granny's Garden" or "Frogger" on the (extremely lame) primary school "computers" (or what at the time you could call a computer - by today's standards, I wouldn't even insult my door by using them as door stops/wedges ;) :D).

I also remember the good old days of the game-n-watch series... geez, that takes me back some - I even remember trying to play one of my mate's "mario-digital-game" watch where you had to save the princess ;)

Now those were the days when Nintendo ruled the roost - fond memories and great times :D :D
