Let's see if Star Wars Minis has taught me anything. I think I know 2 of the 3 other jedis. The middle one (behind Mace) is Agen Kolar, and the one on the right is Kit Fisto, right? And the woman... maybe Luminara Unduli?

The Emperor's face looks odd, in a bad way.

Holy ****!! Those are awesome! I presume these are from the scene where Mace goes to confront Palpy and Palpy opens up a can of whup-*** on good old Master Windu and friends.

TimeWolf,

That last one with Yoda-is he kneeling on the floor in pain because of Palp's reveal, or the death of his fellow Jedi and also the suffering of others as well?

I can't say for sure, but from what I've read on spoilers this is either Yoda feeling the loss of his fellow Jedi, and his closest friend (Windu) which leads Yoda to confront Palpatine. It could also be subsequent to Yoda's encounter with Palpatine, in which Yoda will have to lose and escape. I'd lean towards the first scenerio more though, since it doesn't look like Yoda was just in combat (what with his cane being right next to him).

Oh, EeTh Koth isn't in the Minis game (but, judging from these spoilers, it looks like he'll be in the RotS set), and Saesee Tiin's model has a manly face. I thought she was a he...

In the first picture, the Knight on the far right looks like the baby that Jay and Kay help deliver in the first Men in Black movie.

Awwww....They grow up so fast don't they? :)

Seriously though, seeing a few single frames of the movie does not mean anything. Teasers and Trailers don't even accurately represent the final film. I can only hope that the movie will not be at least half as laughably bad as the first two prequels.

But screenshots, trailers and posters can present you with the overall tone of the film. From what I've seen, the tone is to my liking; dark.

Jesus........... is the set in the first pic all CG? that's so damn terrible. There's no reason to not just... make that (non-digitally)... god that sucks... unless i'm wrong... AGH ELLIPSES.
2004-12-29, 8:38 PM #12
errmm.. no, opus. that's a set. if that were cg, it'd be the nicest environment ive ever seen... so im not sure what you're talking about.
2004-12-29, 8:38 PM #13
The Yoda picture is the only setpiece that looks completely digital. Most of Palpatine's office is was a setpiece (about 65%), including the entrance, so where Mace and others are standing is real. Digital setpieces are far cheaper than real ones.

I am betting he got launched against the wall and fell over. The placement of the cane is too far for Yoda to set down or pick up (without using the Force) and I doubt he'd use the Force to push the cane an extra foot or 2 from him. He looks to of been pushed or struck by lightning and fell over.

Combining what saberopus said and that, one could assume that we have come to expect so much CGI in the movies, it's hard to tell where reality ends and cartoons begin.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

So they're real sets that look like CG... Is that impressive?

Most impressive.

Not really, but I wanted to use the line. Personally, I think the sets look fine.

Maybe the pain of feeling the death of so many Jedi was so much that he keeled over?

TimeWolfOfThePast, but look at the stick. Yoda could not reach that stick from the position he is in unless he were to use the Force. I doubt he threw the stick over there fore the sole purpose of pulling it back towards him afterwards. Something caused him to fall over, and by the placement of the stick, I am betting it was something that struck him physically. I couldn't reach that stick if I were laying down and had it placed that far away, and I have freakishly long arms. If he knelt over from the pain of seeing his friends, something had to cause the stick to land over there.

Given what we saw in AotC, Yoda can't walk without the stick. If you watch the final fight between him and Dooku, he never really walked once he dropped the stick until after he picked it back up. He just jumped around alot.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Well until May 2005, my speculation is just as valid as yours. So to each his own.

Alright, let's assume he knelt over because of the site of seeing his friend's being killed. I believe that could be a possibility. I'm still trying to figure why the stick is so far away from him. Lucas isn't exactly known for letting something like that be missed.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Well Yoda is supposedly going to emotionally break down in one scene according to Rob Coleman (I believe). That's what I'm basing my speculation on. I'm not saying he sees them killed, I'm saying he feels it like Obi-Wan did in ANH.

I could see that happening, but angle the stick differently. It's facing the same direction (the handle of the stick is even pointed the right way) as if dropped. If it were more at an angle, I could see him dropping it and making it a few steps before falling over. It looks like he is bowing down though to something, if only you moved it closer to him.

That's what I'm thinking, I guess it just all depends at what angle he falls. If he fell to his right and dropped his cane (which would have to be held by his left hand) it might end up in that position. But I'm realizing I'm debating the position of a cane, so I'm not going to continue this discussion any longer. I don't want to be a weird fanboy. :p

If a girl (other than those on this site) came and read this, they'd already assume that we were weird fanboys who had nothing better to do.

The first and last shots' backgrounds are CGId.

...In the first picture they built the entrance of Palpatine's office. Why would they make a CGI set to a set they had physically?

2004-12-30, 11:18 AM #38
I'm not saying it's logical, but I know CGI, and from all I can tell in that shot, it's CGId. Look at the snine on the surfaces. (Particularly above their head, and on the base of the wall struts) They're abnormal because the color of the surface isn't being reflective. In real life, a reflective surface looks somewhat transparent in that it's color shines as well. We don't have a shiny surface that acts as it does in that shot. It could possibly be a split second of perfect light, but from what I can tell, that's CGI. It's in the lucas style, too. Also note how sharp the background is. Unless they're using a very high framerate (Which wouldn't give any plus' to the movie, as the only difference would be slightly sharper backgrounds, which is a nono in cinematographe) the camera usually dulls the background when focused on the foreground. Particularly in that shot.

And the last shot is quite obviously CGI. The depth in it as well as lack of background blending shows that.

no kirby, they're all sets. its not that hard to see. you have to go beyond massassi and look at some real CG art sites and forums to actually be able to tell the difference, and they are sets. they still film footage of a blank set and add characters later, you know? its also the same set palpatine is in, and they're not gonna just have him walk around in a green blank room.

they're sets. and if im wrong which im not, it's the best cg ive seen.
