There was a bug in the game where, if you pressed the "select" button just as you were crossing over into a new screen, it would move you over an extra screen. It's called the warp trick.

It's tricky, though..... You have to stand in the right place when you do it, or else you will get stuck in a wall or something. you could pass through walls and avoid the use of keys in some areas, which helps out a lot on a speedrun. You can use this trick to do things you're not supposed to do yet... I got the strongest weapon in the game before i got my sword by warping to the last dungeon/level and going through a few walls to grab it.

Another glitch in the game let you steal things from the village store.... the only drawback is that the storekeeper would kill you the next time you came back into the store, but after he did that and you restarted, you could buy things again normally the next time you entered after that. However, your name changes to "THIEF" when you did this the first time, and there was no way to change it back.

the first one was a glitch,

the second was a part of the game and was even an ingame photopoint in the colour version.

Yes Page, those were some of the greatest bugs in a game ever. Oh, the memories.

The glitches in the GTA engine still make for some memorable moments in San Andreas;

Peeling around the corner chasing down some guys who tried to do a drive by, theres NO ROAD!!!!

Yet I still drive on and it spawns beneath me.

What's the point of cheating if it's hard? :p

In Jedi Knight, in level 19 if you have the teleportation cheat/cog thing on your hard drive, it teleports you to a secret room with default.mat all over it and some Stormtroopers.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

GTA2:

I discovered these 2 myself and to my knowledge they haven't appeared on any websites (they hadn't last time I checked).

How to Fly
The quickest way to do this is to use the all-weapons cheat (I can't remember the code though), but basically you need any throwable weapon, molotov cocktails and grenades.

Go to the top of a building, the higher the better. Switch to your throwably weapon and jump off the building, now repeatedly hit the attack button and you will fall at a much slower rate (due to the animation continually resetting) effectivelly letting you fly. You can get to the Prison Island pretty easily using this.

Death From Above (or How to Drive to the Top of a Building)
In GTA2 you can drive up any slope except those that are 45 degrees or more. The 45 degree ones are fairly easy to spot, they make up the geometry for stairs to the top of buildings and a few other things. Using this glitch you can drive up such a slope and here's how:

Drive towards the slope at a reasonably speed (you can actually do it quite slowly, but faster is always better) and just as you are about to hit it (you would normally drive up a short distance then roll back down) slam on the handbrake and you will start to skid. Because you are skidding the slope won't push you back so you can skid all the way to the top. Once you've mastered it you can get all the way to the top of buildings with just tiny runups.

My favorite is in Medal of Honor: Spearhead, when you are destroying the Nebelwerfers. You can actually get on top of the map and walk high above the enemies and shoot them (if I remember correctly).
"You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!" Anyone who recognizes this quote is awsome.

The Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II bazooka glitch.

Turn on 'automatic switch weapons'. Collect 3 thermal detonators. Despose of the first 2 by throwing them. When you have one left, hold down secondary-fire, and hold down primary-fire as you release secondary-fire. The result will look like the following screenshot. Every weapon will now be held like a bazooka, until your next death.

Everyone's forgotten Pools of Radience. If you uninstalled the game, it could format your hard drive.
