You've got good taste, right? Of course you do!

It has come to my attention that I was sorely deprived of movies last year. This year I aim to catch up by buying an extensive range of DVD's to make up for what I missed, and I'm also looking for suggestions of other good movies from previous years I may have missed/would make a good addition to my collection. Any and all suggestions will be considered, even if I haven't heard of them before.

For the types of movie I'm looking for, pretty much anything goes. I'll admit to liking a fair share of mindless action at the moment, so those will be welcomed. I guess I can just sum this up into "post good movies!" :p

Please? :o

If you want Pointless Action, go for LXG. Van Helsing was just a bit to pointless for my taste.

Van Helsing was all about the hot chick. Too corny.

Garden State is another good one.

For hilarious bad movies, I recommend happiness of the katakuri's, or shaolin soccer.

Funniest bad movies ever.

Also get all of the ATHF dvds.

This has nothing to do with the vendetta you probably think I have against you, but I highly reccomend never watching those movies. Please, I beg you, stay far far away from them.

Combined with my old favorite "The world according to Gotti," these are the two greatest films I've ever seen. As an editor of film, a screenplay writer, as well as a cameraman, play director, and film director, I see something in all of these fields for these 2 movies. They are must sees.

Personally, I would suggest Sky Captain. Though it's a movie that mustn't be taken too seriously, because it's not a very strong one if you begin analyze it.

If you have to decide between Van Helsing and Riddick, I'd suggest Riddick. It has problems but at least it offers some unique elements in the environment and themes. Van Helsing is pretty light stuff.

Funniest? It has my vote for most pointlessly stupid, dumb, and moronic. I completely despise movies like that. I totally fail to see how anyone can find them so completely hilarious.

But hey, I guess making crap movies like that is the only way studios get the cash to make really awesome movies.

It was a satire, and was meant to be pointlessly stupid. If you think it wasn't funny, i think you utterly missed the point. jsut because there was a lot of balls to the crotch didn't mean that was the basis of the movie, you had to dig deeper then that. Ah, well, to each his own.

Heh, that has to be one of my favorite lines ever. I mean, it's not really the line itself, but how he says it.

The Butterfly Effect
Clerks X (If you only buy one movie off this thread, make it this one, you won't be dissapointed)
The Ren and Stimpy Show Seasons 1 and 2
Snatch
Underworld
Scarface Anniversary Edition
Evil Dead/Evil Dead 2/Army of Darkness
The Ultimate Matrix Collection (if you don't already own the movies, if you do, it won't really justify buying the box set)
Man on Fire
Shaun of the Dead
Boondock Saints
