Damnit... there's literally not a single subject on this page I don't want to do. Maeve has the most kickass curriculum ever, no irony. Maybe I'll take up physics after these 7 years of psychology. Then medicine. Then history. Then maths. Then philosophy. Then ... I'll be a ****ing smart man by the time I'm 416.

Anyway, this year I'm seeing

  • General psychology

  • Sociology
  • Developmental Psychology I
  • Genetics
  • Social Psychology I
  • Physiology
  • Differential Psychology I
  • History of Psychology

None taken, but now you'll have to explain your hatred :P
Naw, I don't care what you think. Do you hate the people in it (snobby students/preps?) or the actual major (pathedic major?)
2005-01-14, 5:38 PM #28
I've always thought of business and several A&S majors as simpler to accomplish, less mentally taxing at least. However, we need business majors just as much as we need engineers and theoretical physics, so I have little problem with the major itself. Though I find that in my school, several students pursuing these majors fulfill the stereotypes exactly. Then again, there are a few, with which I'm pretty good friends, that are exact opposites of the stereotypes. So it depends on the people.

You are completely insane.

Seriously, I love physics in the most dorky way ever and actually get really excited about learning it, but, as usual, education gets in the way of learning and I've come to resent virtually everything I've been taught. (Except thermodynamics of all things - possibly the most boring thing ever, but I'm good at it, and it actually feels relevant. Unlike quantum mechanics which just feels so removed from reality as to be completely pointless)

Flex, that line up looks fascinating. Start pestering the school now and make sure they don't screw up again!

BUt there is one thing that I like. I have almost a 100% of getting a job immediatley with my Associates degree, while most Business majors unless you are in accounting or finance have to get their MBA to make real money.

MGT 3200: Operations Management
ACCT 3200: Concepts in Federal Taxation
ACCT 3300: Accounting Information Systems
ACCT 4050: Intermediate Financial Accounting II

First semester I'm taking only 12 credit hours. Ususally I take 15-17 hours per semester, and I was originally taking 15 this one, but it was just too much work.

Am a Junior with 76 hours so far, and a 4.0. Since the classes are now the really indepth ones for my major (Accounting) - I figure I would only take 12 hours this time.

And hell, I have the rest of my life to work - so who cares!
2005-01-17, 9:46 AM #40
And in response to Ubuu:

Speaking from the South-east (Atlanta) and an Accounting major - the market right now is really good for Accounting. I'm not sure on other business majors.

If you get in the big four accounting firms, the going price around here right now is $40,000-45,000 - at hiring. With just a bachelor. If you get a masters it'll go up. The word from inside the big four is that it's not competitive enough either, so they expect to have to raise the rates. Plus this is just starting salary, and you can go up very soon after if you're good.

But money's not everything lets remember. If you're not happy at what you're doing - six figures would mean nothing.
