Sadly, me too. I think it is good we have it, because I've definetely noticed a change in the forums since its instigation, but i would be nice if it didn't have to be there at all. Maybe over time, it'll change.

So Brian, by not being there at all, do you mean Massassian utopia? Because as it is now there has definitely been a decrease in flaming/trolling and I think it's in part to having a public list of banned people.

But it would be nice if someday we didn't know what banning meant.:( [/John Lennon]

[EDIT] What am I saying? banning is what makes this interesting!

I know, we finally reached 10! A great milestone.

It'll be even better when we have enough to make FASCINATING statistics about it all.

Same here. Though I wish they'd edit out the old posts of people who have been unbanned.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Once again, I petition that the random dude who is number one be removed. If anyone deserves to top the ban list (besides Pugler) it's me.

I agree, it's always exciting to log on and see the post number has gone up. It was at 9 for so long I almost gave up hope. :(

Since utterly retarded bannings have ceased, I don't mind it so much.

But for a while there...you could get banned for saying "I disagree".

(yes, that is hyperbole. If you don't know what that is, I suggest dictionary.com)

If I get banned, the first thing I will do is to look at my hall of fame in the banlist.

:)

And yeah I check it too...

I also enjoy it thouroughly.

I can't wait til it hits eleven.

We should take bets on what day it will hit eleven, but then you'd have the problem of people creating accounts on their sister's computer or whatever just to get banned and win....

I think he meant it would be nice if Massassi didn't need the ban list in order for flaming to be rare.

It's the first thing I check.

It's doing its job, but in a weird way. It's as if, instead of argueing with each other, we blow off our anger by laughing at the missfortune of those on the lost. I love it!

I love the ban list. It's a great thread. I agree. It'll be awesome when we have enough fodder in there to make statistics...

I know what would make it cooler though... If when banned the user's name was posted in red, when unbanned the post was edited to make it green (not massassi green, but like traffic light green) it'd be an easy way to determine who really is still banned.

This might result in the admins editing an old ban message if/when the same user gets banned again (re-reddening the name and changing/adding to the reason) and I for one don't want that. If someone gets banned a hundred times, let there be a hundred posts about his reproachable behavior!

Besides, you can already determine approximately when a ban is lifted, except with such bans as powertickle's indefinite one. If implementing your idea wouldn't lead to editing old ban messages, though, I think it's good, except for giving the admins a little extra chore.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Isn't it just ;) - I too am guilty of said actions. There's always the curious notion of wondering just who got the "temporary" boot... :o - and for what reason... ;)

It's good that they've put a more specific ban reason on it, now we can see how obsessive the admins are.

I mean comparing someone's music taste to Horse diarrhoea, how is that a bannable offense?

Oh dear, I can see it already...

You know, when I read that ban message I laughed quite a bit. I think it was worth the ban in that guys case.

Horse crap wouldn't have been funny. But Horse diarehea...well, the juvenile in me just couldn't NOT laugh at that.

And I agree...its sick, but when I see the post count on that thread go up I get giddy and click all over the link in a clumsy gesture of haste and anticipation.
