Things aren't looking good for the Eagles. McNabb just threw an interception. The commercials so far aren't that great either.
2005-02-06, 4:25 PM #2
So far, no team scored. Hmm. (in end of 1st quarter)

I thought that ad about the store "robbery" with the guy with the hands-free cell phone was good.

Well it's half-time and its 7-7. Great defense by both teams. However, the Eagles' offensive line pales in comparision to the Patriots. McNabb is repeatedly under pressure as opposed to Brady. It's a good game overall. Seems like they're being very careful with the half-time show since its nothing extravagant or flamboyant (just Paul McCarthy singing).

I'm impressed by the Eagles, but this tpye of game beneifts the Pats, and I'm stickin with them.

I loved the halftime show.

I hated it. Paul's a great entertainer, but this is by far the most boring half-time show I've seen in years. God I wish we lived in Europe.. One titty and the FCC goes nuts. :(

I thought the halftime show was a very nice reprieve from recent shows, which starred people who lacked any interesting musical talent.

Exactly. The halftime show was far better than anything else that's been shown in recent years.

As for commercials... I'm quite dissapointed. The good ones have been quite sparse.

[edit] Forgot to mention that the singing of the Nation Anthem was great as well. Nice to hear it sung correctly and WELL for once, rather than by some pop star who feels the need to butcher the way it's should be sung.

It's looking that way now, yes. Kinda sucks.

Wow, I'm surprised Massassi's superbowl thread is only about a dozen posts long so far. I guess the strong presence of an international community at Massassi has something to do with that!

Anyway, I'd like the Eagles to win, just because the Patriots have won two of the last three Superbowls, so it would be quite boring if they one again. I'm not a really a huge football fan though, so I'm not bothered much either way. Just got back from a youth group event, we had some food and chetted and watched the game. Some of the adverts we saw were quite funny. I liked the one with the Lays chips and the kids who throw that guy over the fence - I can't remember his name, but the catchline was so funny.

****! McNabb sealed the Eagles' fate with that second interception!
2005-02-06, 6:58 PM #16
Yes, this is over. Not enough time for McNabb, and its the Patriots. Simple an unbelievable team.

Ok, so did Philly never work the no huddle offense into their playbook? What they've been doing thest last few minutes is incomprehensible.

People watching the game probably in rooms without the computer, like me. ;)

The game was a typical NE win. They play a soild, complete game. Bend a little, but never break.

Half-time show was excellent. It had good music, and nothing over the top and pointless. Also nice to have a GOOD singer once in a while, instead of whoever was in the top 10 music charts the previous year.

Good game. My brother refused to listen to me when I kept teling him that Donvan McNabb is not a very good QB. I even guaranteed the last interception on the last drive :).

NE is just too good. I mean, they do what it takes to win. Pretty much every part of their team is amazing, except for the secondary, but they do enough to win.

As long as Belichik is at the helm, I forsee many many NE super bowls.

So Mike, I guess the fact that he had 31 Td's and 8 INTs all season just screams "Not Very Good" QB? He had a bad game today, but guess what? So did Peyton Manning, and Big Ben. The Patriots do that to QB's, it wasn't just McNabb.

This was the first time I didn't change the channel during the half time show. I enjoyed it. May MTV never be given power outside of their own channel again.

The FedEx commercial in the beginning had me pointing things out in all of the other commercials. "A cute kid, with an animal... and it's talking!"

The best Super Bowl commercial I've ever seen was 30 second of a monkey, followed by the text "We just wasted 2 million dollars. What will you do with your money?"
"I got kicked off the high school debate team for saying 'Yeah? Well, **** you!'
... I thought I had won."
2005-02-06, 9:33 PM #35
I enjoyed the half-time show, and this is coming from somebody who is not a major Beatles or McCartney fan. The FedEx commercial was amusing, but the best superbowl commercial ever was the cat herders. I don't remember what it was for, but it was golden. :D

Why is it that there is always something about the superbowl that sucks? There's always ONE things about it that sucks every year. It was commercials this year. Most were either really lame, or looked like they could be shown on normal every day TV.

My father LOVES the beatles. I do not. I would rather see the original line up of Black Sabbath play at half time.

At least we didn't have to endure a U2 show...

Paul McCartney was great. The actual game was much better last year.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.
