Super Bowl

Yeah, the half-time show was great this year, but I hoped they would have showed scenes of Live and Let Die during the performance.

Not a bad Superbowl.

I wouldn't say McNabb was bad - NE's defense was just that GOOD.

Plus, I thought through 2+ Quarters Philly hung in there pretty well - they tired at the end though, and NE just outlasted em.

There was really only one game-killing mistake I could see in the whole game, and am surprised no one has been talking about it:

Reid's decision to onside kick with 1:40+ on the clock and 2 time outs. That effectively ended the Eagle's chances right there. With that on the clock, you could have punted, done whatever you could for a 3-out, and then rather than worrying about scoring a TD, you could have worried just about getting into a position to tie with the FG. Then its a new game in OT.

Seriously, that is what really killed the Eagles.

When you're tow staring corners are down for most of the season, your nickleback is a wide reciever and you lose your starting strong safety to injury in the middle of the game, there's going to be a drop-off.

It wasn't hard to see coming. I can't even blame McNabb for the interception... it was thrown out of desperation. Donovan made enough plays to overcome his mistakes; the problem was poor game management by Andy Reid. Between his refusal to call running plays (even though the Pats were less than effective at stopping the outside run) and all the time he wasted near the end of the game, I'm sure we'll see quite a few Philly fans calling for his head in the next week or so.

I hadn't thought of that, but now that I look back at the game, you're right. An odd combination, really. On the scoring drive, Reid runs the offense like the game doesn't even matter to him. On the kick, he finally makes a call that demonstrates a sense of urgency, but it's the wrong call.

On another note, quite a relief not to be seeing all the "dynasty" talk here that I'm seeing on other forums.

Let's evaluate McNabb. Well he obviously threw three interceptions. He could definitely use better quarterback vision. Several times in the replay a wide receiver such as Terrell Owens (who had an excellent game despite his leg injury. He should had been thrown to more in my opinion) was completely wide open. Some of his throws were off too. He wasn't exactly playing at the level that he was playing in the previous two games.

Although in truth, some of the problems lied with the offensive line. McNabb was constantly under pressured from those blitzs. New England on the other hand had tremendous blocking. Brady had a comfortable time to throw the ball.

The Eagles defense did an alright job. It could have been better, but it was okay overall.

The game was a close one up until the fourth quarter. I guess I should just be glad that the Eagles made the super bowl at least.

I wanted the Philadelphia Eagles to win. I think they could have, especially at the end, before they choked. Like, when that dude threw that ball like 400 yards and that other guy caught it in the end zone. And then finally they got the ball back. If they did that twice more, they would have one. Just throw it along the field twice, or once, and have the dude run the rest. It's a pretty simple game. They should have won. :(

SOmetimes it's just not possible to throw to that open reciever either because of pressure from that side, being on the other side of the field or running to the off arm. The worst INT Donvan threw was the one to Bruschi, who was just sitting in a Cover 2. He ws also lucky that the one he threw in the endzone came back. That was a bad throw too.

T.O. definitely should have been used more often in the game. That could have made the difference. And I, too, was amazed to see the Eagles burn away the clock like that. Guys! That clock is PRECIOUS to you. One FG and it would have been OT. That was VERY poor play making on behalf of Reid. I don't suspect he will be fired or something serious like that. But this will haunt him. I had a feeling the onside would fail miserably. Rarely do those work. And the Pats' strategy behind that was unique. Don't go for the ball, just rush the other guys and pluck ball from the air.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.
