American Dad

I can't believe that no one has mentioned the American dad pilot episode that aired after the super bowl.

I thought it was great, and I was laughing my a** off a few times.

I sat through the whole thing and, just like with most episodes of Family Guy I've seen, I didn't laugh once.

It was pretty funny, but considering the subject matter, I can't help but feel that they've already used every possible joke after a single episode. There are some gags that I can tell will be repeated over and over again, even though they're just not funny.

I haven't been able to see the episode, but the whole thought of it just makes me think of a series surrounding Family Guy's Joe character..but with usable legs.

They could've gone with something more unique...

I thought it was pretty good and I laughed a few times. But like people said, it is starting to be overused.

There's tons of topics that they can use for this show, so I wouldn't say they used up all of their jokes in the first show. I mean come on, there's an alien, a goldfish with a skier's brain inside of it, and the dad works for the government. Since the dad works for the government, they could easilly have one episode for every law and or amendment.

...No, he's really not. No one I know who saw it, myself included, found it particularly funny. It didn't hold a candle to Family Guy.

No... just dust.

It had its moments, but overall I wasn't that impressed. However, FG wasn't that good the first few episodes either.

I have no idea what this "American Dad" is, but this is the second time I've seen it mentioned. I'm debating over whether or not I should Google it.

I thought it was OK... I hated the alien though, it just ruins the whole show for me.

WRONG

The Kool Aid Man? That was literally 10x better then anything in the pilot of Amercian Dad.

No, it wasn't. Compare the first season of Family Guy to the later seasons, the first season is crappy by comparison. The problem with AD is everyone's comparing it to FG; and the alien sucks.

I love Family Guy but found American Dad to be simply okay. It just wasn't all that funny and the political jokes felt forced. I don't know; I guess it just needs time to develop.

Everyone's comparing it to Family Guy because Fox is basically trying to sell it as the next Family Guy. And yes, the alien is brutally unamusing.

I agree. Season 2 and 3 and far funnier and over the line that the first season. The writers here have to be a little cautious to see what the network will actually allow on TV, especially these days.

Thought it was stupid. It's the exact same formula as family guy, but with uninteresting topics and characters.

I was honestly appalled that they would try to push a show so blatantly...identical to family guy. Meh

The mall scene was fun!

The alien was annoying. Maybe they'll send him back if they keep the show running >_>

I thought it was alright, but it didn't have nearly as many memorable moments or quotes as a standard Family Guy episode does. Maybe it'll get better. *Hopes.

I didn't care for it that much. If that alien keeps squirting for thw whole season it is gonna get real old. I didn't much care for the characters themselves either. They don't look as good as the Family Guy cast. The dad's chin is way too obnoxious. Maybe he can get it amputated after an accident. The fish? He doesn't seem like he can go very far, destined to random one-liners when someone is in the room. Brian is much better in my opinion. The Alien? His voice is annoying. I guess I just like Stewie and Brian a lot more. Last, I'm rather tired of hearing about terrorism every day. Three and a half years of it already is enough.

I don't like American Dad or Family Guy. Futurama is a billion times better than either of those, with characters that are real and lovable and awesome, and actual plots and funny.

AD sucked. Even the transitions between scenes were identical to FG. Is May 1st here yet?

On the other hand, I thought the Simpsons were refreshingly good the other night.

Well, I don't care to hop on Simpson-bashing bandwagon just so I can look cool. I actually thought they were getting at something intelligent with the whole Flanders thing. I'd have to watch it again to catch it. Call me dense if you want, but I thought Homer was genuinely funny. The show's been weak this season so far, but last Sunday night was actually pretty good. It wasn't as good as the old ones, but it still delivered the goods.

You've already seemed to jump on the AD bashing bandwagon...

But anyway, I'm a fan of the Simpsons, back when it was still funny that is. Seasons 1-10 were great and classics in their own right, it was all downhill from there. Granted there have been some episodes recently that had their moments, but they just aren't as funny as the older ones.
