or how about when you see a confident, outgoing, strong willed woman that knows what she wants gets a standing ovation, but if a guy is like that, he becomes an egomaniac.

I'd just like to point out that on the equality front that women are generally paid less than men because they generally do lower paying work. If a woman was making less than a man in the same job that company would be shut down so fast it's not even funny. And everyone knows this is true so don't even TRY to argue *glares at the females*

That's not true. There are a few studies of men and women in the same field, with the same jobs, men tend to receive raises and bonuses much quicker than women...

Dont quote me on this, cause i dont remeber the details to well, and since it supposedly is a recent discovery it might not be entirely true.

b/c women can get maternity leave if they get knocked up. It's a balance b/c men don't get maternity leave (obviously).

Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, "You're next." They stopped after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.

Er...why should men get maternity leave? They're not going to developing a 40 lbs.+ sack on their stomach over a period of nine months, only to have it all come out in less than a total of 10 seconds.

Is it just me or is the fact that he said "knocked up" totally negate any possible influence he could have on this discussion? I hate people who say that. It's rude and crude. Go back to your little woman-festival fantasy world Pagewizard, and take your ideas with you.

Amneotic fluid and the placenta have mass, too. Maybe not totalling up to 40 pounds, but definitely more than 20.

Yeah, I'd say closer to 25 or 30.

Page, about one in four women now are too wrapped up in their job to have a child, and that number is growing. In fact, that's going to have a nice side effect, a reduced population growth rate.

I haven't got the courage nor will to do something like that. I'm mostly afraid of hurting their feelings I guess. Aside from that it's just plain mean.
Don't know if what I just said really relates at all to the topic, but oh well.

My family has 5 kids, and two of my friend's each have 6.

Response relating to Roach's post about how 1/4 of women and rising are too tied up to have kids.

My mom got all this bs when she had her third child. She retired from her job btw. She was told "Oh, I'm sorry you've gotta be a housewife." and stuff like that. Then there's the general public view nowadays that being a housewife is being a parasite because you're not bringing any money into the family. I personally think that's crap. Though I *can* see where they came up with that view, it's really kinda stupid. As long as you're trying to do somthing to help, that's generally what matters.

From what I understand, it's more or less women putting their lives before a family, and pursuing careers instead of "settling down." Though, I'm sure the feeling of being a financial burden adds to it.

I think for a single, average sized baby, the extra weight added on a woman proly comes around 30lbs... and thats not the added fat that the body gains during that period, thats just the baby, and all the other stuff the body creates to take care of it.

Women gain approximately 30 lbs during pregnancy, minus baby.

What more is there to discuss? It's already been stated that women are born with more than enough eggs for a few life-times, but that they still have egg-producing germ cells so they could possibly produce more later in life...
