I bet you think that's funny, don't you.

[Edit: Now I know what! It felt way too Hollywood, it needs more.....British.]

Trillian is in the movie, and Zaphod does have two heads... but niether one of those things are shown in the trailer.
I bet you think that's funny, don't you.

They show Zaphrod's other head for a second near the end , it is underneath his head, or something like that. His head rolls back a bit and the head says, "This!"

I missed that... I'lll have to watch that again.

And is there a higher-quality version anywhere? I looked, but I haven't found one yet.
I bet you think that's funny, don't you.

Awsomeness.
2005-02-16, 12:55 PM #8
Trillian IS there, but he called her tricia in the trailer. I hope they don't do that through the whole thing :S
"Jayne, this is something the Captain has to do for himself"

"N-No it's not!"

"Oh."

Yeah, earlier it was reported that Zaphod's other head was to be in his nostril, but I saw him lean back. That should be a little better. And I don't mind Mos Def playing Ford, just so long as he does a good job. Early reviews posted online of screeners haven't been praising his performance, but here's to hoping.

Anyway, it looks pretty good from the trailer.

Wow, I guess I must have really been asleep when I watched it the first time.

By the way, is anybody else having trouble getting the trailer to open in Firefox? It seems to only work in IE for me.

The trailer worked fine for me in Firefox.

Got a bigger one... but the quality isn't perfect.

I don't know... I don't remember the books ever explicitly stating he was white, though I could just have a bad memory. And even if the book does say he's white, I could care less as long as the actor does a good job.
I bet you think that's funny, don't you.

This trailer scared me...and I dont think it's going to be that good unfortunately. I had high hopes for this, but it just doesnt look all that good. I hope im wrong...

I thought he was white when I read the book also... I dunno, I just cant picture a british guy being black.

I know, it's difficult to believe that there could be British people who are black.

2005-02-16, 1:57 PM #22
He's not British. He's from a small planet somewhere in the vicinity of Betelgeuse.

Edit - the only reference I can see just thumbing through the first book to Ford being white is that his hair "was wiry and gingerish and brushed backward from the temples."

I may not be familiar with hairstyles, but I wouldn't say that the hair of black people typically could be described as wiry or gingerish. But again, I don't really know. And like I said, it doesn't really matter, as long as the acting is good.

Oh sure, if you want to get technical about it. :p

There's the black british guy from Ocean's Eleven, the black british guy from Niel Gaiman's Neverwhere, there are tons.

The whole demolition scene is exactly like I pictured it, I can't wait.

The books, radio version, and series are all different anyway, so there is no 'canon' version.

That would be bad. Look at Lucascorp.

And I think it will kick serious arse myself :)

There was a british TV show of this book series, an it was BRILLIANT. They captured everything perfectly in it, especially marvin. I dunno about this movie though.

[EDIT: Marvin should look more like this:

I was about to post: "This is garbage. Who the hell cares? I hate all of you." But I watched the trailer and must say I was wrong in my preconceptions and that it seems mighty interesting and I want to see it.

You have read the book...right? If you have, then you know why it's worth getting excited about.

Sweetness. Comes across like 5th Element. Good stuff.

I'm with Slavation on this one, this looks worse than a pair of Dingo's kidneys. I do dearly hope the final movie is better than that trailer. It looks way to Hollywood (as Sajn said).

Guys, I do think the trailer was meant to be tongue in cheek with the hollywoodness....

It was over the top for a reason - the film won't be like that!
2005-02-16, 3:32 PM #32
I'm looking forward to it, and the soundtrack in the trailer sound remarkably similar to Men In Black.

The BBC edition was amazing. Altogether it was 4 hours long, and I watched it two times in a row in one sitting.

Imagine, 8 hours of continuous h2g2 stimulus... *drool*

And even then, they didn't get all the way to the end. I don't understand how any one film can do this series justice.

Looks funny, although I only remember a little bit of the book.

And Marvin looks dumb.

Never read the book, but it does look interesting. I thought it was going to be like Independence Day from viewing the beginning of the trailer.

Which is kinda what they're parodying with the trailer: believe me, it's only briefly like ID4.
