Interesting puzzle. Took me about 2 or 3 turns to figure it out, but apparently quite a few people are unable to ever figure out how it works. It's an interesting look at different ways in which people think.

Don't post the solution here if you figure it out. I'll post it myself in a day or so. Btw, you havent figured it out until you are able to consistantly and correctly state what the answer is multiple times. Getting it right once by chance, or because you have a duplicate roll doesnt count.

I had the right idea the first time I guessed. I was wrong, but I immedately saw what I had done wrong and I have gotten it right every consecutive time.

It took me print screening about 40 times and lining them all up in MSPaint before I finally figured it out. How crafty, but somewhat uninspiring once you figure it out.

I figured it out after a half hour-hour.

I blame semantics for throwing me off before. Though admittedly, it would have taken longer if the background didn't specify that no complicated math was required.

got it on the first try, never missed once. i felt like this was insulting my intelligence, because the answer is blatantly obvious... seems like something a kindergarten teacher would use to challenge his/her students.. anything beyond that level... just no.

I must be pretty damn smart. I've been trying to figure this thing out for the past half hour with no luck, other than I figured out the values fall between 0 and 12 and they always seem to be even. EDIT: Nope, I just got a 14 and now I'm confused as hell.

Yes, yes you should all be very embarassed.

And just because someone is a doctor doesn't mean they're smart. It's a nice theory, that the longer it takes you the smarter you are. Mathematically maybe, but real intelligence deals with problem solving.

OMG I had the solution, but must have miscounted and or had a typo because it said I was WRONG....so I just spent 30 minutes trying wrong things until I tried my original solution again...ack

I did read the background, and I'm disagreeing with what is said within.

No, I'm sorry, you aren't smarter because you can't figure this out. In fact, the clue to the solution of the game is printed 6 times on that page, so I'm also arguing that *you* didn't read it.

It took me a couple tries, but eventually I figured it out. The fact that they don't tell you what the rose is pretty much gives it away.
