Prom Season
2004-04-21, 1:06 PM #1
Well once again, its that time of year to hike up your nerves to ask that special someone to your school/cities semi-formal / prom/ homecoming, least around here in the Northern part of Massachusetts. I'm going with my girlfriend who i've been with for almost two years, anyone else going to be attending?

How much is Prom at your schools? Mine's like $40 for a single person and $70 for a couple. Additionally, you have to dress up for prom and tuxedos are quite expensive.

All in favour of Mystic0's amended title, raise your hand now...

Topic related, I've got to wait another month - fancy having a May-ball in May (what are the chances of that? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]) before I think about all that malarkey. That said, I'm all sorted - I'm going with the same young lady I've been to the may ball with for the last two years - mainly because we're the only single-tons amongst our group of uni friends, so we save each other from the embarassment of looking like "the-odd-one-out", plus we have a great laugh [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] - I love those events - can't wait [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Prom? Pfft. Only good things about those are the after-dance parties, and, when you're in college, you don't need any stinking parties - you can get drunk whenever you feel like it.

Our Prom is 5 dollars a couple and $2.50 a person.

Not too shabby.

Our theme really, really, sucks though:

Despite the awesome suggestions of "Frolicking in the Flowers" "Pretty Flowers" "Nuclear War on the Dance Floor" "Honey I shrunk the Prom" and "Prom: Destroy all Monsters" our Committee decided on "The Senior Ball"

Yeah. It's catchy.

Dude, I wish I got to have "Prom: Destroy All Monsters." Still, prom was fun for me, as I got to slowdance with a pretty woman who was actually closer to my height [http://forums.massassi.net/html/redface.gif] Too bad I didn't follow up on it with something more significant, ah well. Probably best for her.

Our Prom was last saturday. I didn't go. I didn't go because I don't want to bother getting a tuxedo and going to all sorts of trouble so that I could have a mediocre time with someone I am not really interested in. However, I will definitely go to my senior prom, sucky or not. I mean, you HAVE to.

Yeah. I didn't go to my prom, nor did I buy my yearbook. why? Well. I was richer by 120$, and I was having a blast with my friends, who followed me on this prom protest, at a Metal gig that cost me 10$ entry and one buck a drink.

Nah I've heard of them putting two coins over the eyes or in the pocket, just as tradition. The one with having to pay the boatman on the river Styx, I think. As late as 19th century; possibly still.

when you have your school dances and stuff, do they have them at the school? or do they rent out a hall? Here, the more $$ the ticket, the better the location, next year, my senior prom is at a hotel [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

From a Christian school perspective it's called a "formal" and you just dress up nice and go eat somewhere. In our case it's a Hawaiian buffet. *sigh*
As student council president I'm not sure I've planned this very well.

Whoo! my prom was awesome. Saw Dave Attell afterwords, so funny.
Only 2 complaints are that the girl that invited me was insanely shy, and I had to stand out in the rain with a bunch of drunk irishmen while I was waiting for the comedy place to let us in.
