If there is an afterlife I imagine it would be something like they showed in What Dreams May Come.

It'll be really really BORING!

Think about it! All the fun people are going to hell. But if you wanna go upstairs with all the prudes and miss out on the party, it's your loss.

I believe that the afterlife is what you think it will be, at your moment of death. >_<

I think it'd be like earth, people would have option to wear clothes (heck, angels wore them in the bible) also, our bodies would be similar to our current ones, I also think we'd be able to chill with our old friends. I think we'd also be able to fly, walk on water, heal, and do pretty much everything that Jesus was able to do, as we'd have an overload of faith lol.

Through strength I gain power
Through power I gain victory
Through victory my chains are broken

hell... a little like earth... except nobody dies... you still need money to get stuff but keep in mind the music totally rocks and we get all the best concerts... and if you ever need a lawyer... *cough*

There's no bathrooms. If you gotta go, you better go before you die.

Seriousely though, on the crazy assumption that there is such a place, I'd do anything to avoid going there.
The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

Lots and lots of cuddling.
Sneaky sneaks. I'm actually a werewolf. Woof.

Your asking that on this forum!?

Oh well. I think heaven will be a place like earth, just fallen, but perfect. We will work and do stuff, just there won't be any idiots or jerks. I wonder what gaming will be like. We'd actually have completed mods instead of mod teams that break up after a few months as a result of flame wars on their boards. Hopefully beaurcracy will die.

I don't know, since I'm probably going to Hell. I hope it's like what South Park depicts it as. :)

What if there is no afterlife? All there is is black silence. You can't feel, hear, smell, or see anything. What if it's non-existence? This is why I try not to think about death.
Who made you God to say "I'll take your life from you"?

Does it really matter? Perception changes, and, well, I'm not headed there anyway.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

Your description describes an afterlife, not the lack of one. If there isn't one afterall, you wouldnt be around to know what its like after your dead. So why waste time worrying about it?

I always thought that heaven would never be a place where you do anything physically, and there is nothing to see or do, your soul is just at eternal peace. While in hell you don't really do anything, or see anything, and there is no fire or pitchforks, your soul is just in an eternal state of torture.

I never pictured heaven to be very exciting.

Heaven is like the Jedi - there is no passion, there is only peace.

And Hell would be like the Sith, ruled by emotion.

Wow, I think in the exact opposite way of this. Buddha == wrong. Passion is where it's at. It's why Jesus died young, and the Buddha was rich and lived to be old and everyone loved him and he sat under a tree. I imagine Hell as a place so sedated and dead and repetitive, like your notion of peace. Heaven would be full of such overwhelming emotion that you would need to leave the physical world. It would be like an orgasm, except there would be no relief, and it would just build, infinitely, that it would tear you apart from the inside.

Hmm...even though I'm trying to strive for Heaven, I don't really think about it that much. I'd just as soon try to be an increasingly nice person as my life progresses, because I'm sure I'll get to Heaven and I'm sure it'll be good. But I can't really picture it anymore than I picture the rest of my life in this world, like having my own family and house. Really, there's no point in trying to guess what Heaven's like, because chances are you'll be wrong. The important thing, for now, is the process or the way there, not the actual goal. It's all about doing the right thing, even in your fallible human condition.
DISCLAIMER: This is just armchair observation, not the result of many hours of deliberate study of the subject. I'm by no means an expert, but just an ignorant hick who's putting his two cents in. For that and a nickel, you can have a cup of coffee.

It certainly wouldn't be boring. Pure bliss and peace beyond current human understanding isn't something that gets old, because the perception of time is completely different. Even though I am of the Christian faith, I like the definition of nirvana and apply it in a way to heaven.
2005-02-21, 12:27 AM #39
I think heaven will be a lot like it is in Diablo II. You've got some archangel dude hangin' out there, and an old geezer, and a few merchants in this neat castle thing high in the air, with a stairway leading to hell. :D
