I feel no sympathy towards the cops, or anger towards the growers. No one needed to be shot, except for the legislators who let these people die.

What's RCMP? I'm assuming cops so...

I think it's very sad that people who are supposed to be enforcing the law put their lives on the line for something as silly as pot. Now, I've never smoked pot, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but damnit, is it worth the lives of five people just to bust a pot farm? Why not stake the place out till the guy is gone and then take it over?

RCMP are the Federal police. They're sort of analogous to some sort of amalgamated State Troopers/Highway Patrol/FBI agency, but they aren't exactly equipped to handle situation involving heavy fire (which is why they called down the military for assistance in this case).

That's mostly true.

The RCMP is Canada's national police force. They are equipped to handle these situations (The Emergency Response Teams are a part of the RCMP and are essentially the SWAT of Canada)

BUT they decided to send in regular memebers instead of ERT's which wasn't a good call on their part.

I think the only reason they put the military on stand-by is because there hasn't been a situation like this before with so many officers being killed at once. Not since Canada's very early years anyway.


It's unfortuante to see this happen and sort of alarms me consdiering I'm trying to become a police officer in Canada myself in a province that has a bigger pot problem then Alberta.

BC is more widely known for its pot culture. Pot is everywhere in both Ontario and BC. Pot is not the problem, the laws and legistlation against it is the problem.

I'm just finding it funny all the people now coming in saying "OH, see! This is what pot does to you. Its so bad it'll make you want to kill someone!!!"... Yeah, and too much jerking off will cause you to go blind. Gimme a break.

Thank You. I live in BC and we have, in most peoples opinions, the best bud in Canada. I do smoke it and there is nothing wrong with it I don't even consider it a drug. And the government is think of or already has decriminalzed it. You won't go to jail but you'll still get a fine.

But hey if your homeless you get a fine to. So: **** the corperate world. beyoch!

Actually reading further on CNN.com it appears they were guarding the building and were ambushed by this guy. So they weren't really in the middle of a raid or anything.

That's terrible. I witnessed a meth lab raid here just last night. The police blocked off every entrance into my friend's neighborhood with multiple squad cars and brought in SWAT. The speed they accomplished this with was frightening.

I've heard BC has the best bud in canada, and in a lot of other peoples opinions, the entire world. I wouldnt know about that, since I haven't sampled weed from literally everywhere. Would like to though, but I havent. I have however had BC Bud before, and yes, it's quite good. But the best weed I've ever had came from a friend in Toronto where I used to live, I dunno where the weed specifically came from as in which province, but I do know it was circulating around Toronto.

haha so true. Although my typical smoking sessions are with my friends in Toronto, the reason I like smoking with them is because they talk about actual intelligent stuff. Not only when high, but when not high as well, although that's rare.

Still, I agree, I've yet to meet one pothead that is/becomes violent when high off pot.


EDIT: I hate to say it, but I think it would have been better if the cops had been killed actually attempting to hold off or bust some REAL criminals, like a murderer or rapist or something. This seems like a total waste... Killed defending the community from some plants that cause no harm to anyone but the user, if any even at that rate.

Cops should be put to use fighting REAL crime and persuing REAL criminals.

I have to agree with you on these two points because it is so true. When high me and my friends actually talk about intelligent stuff and when not high we hardly talk.

And the cops should just leave potheads alone unless they can prove that they are murdering, rapeing, etc. people. I mean they could be taking the pot from us and smoking it themselfs.

The guy broke the law. The police were doing their jobs and the fer shot them. Completely sickening that someone would do that for a drug. It's reasons like that the law is in place. People get hooked on the stuff, it doesn't have to be a craving addiction, and they are willing to go to extreme lengths to keep it.

Despite what you think about the law the guy who shot the cops was a sick sob.

Oh for christ's sakes. Did anyone actually say anything like this? I'm tired of rabidly pro-pot people who always feel like they have to stand up and preach like they are being constantly threatened and attacked, when in fact, nobody is blaming weed at all. You are just jumping to conclusions and assuming people think this so you can go off on your little speech about how everyone is so dumb and naive towards marijuana. Give ME a break....please.
