Fortunately they got him. Unfortunately alive. Unfortunately he killed another person.

Allegedly.

Kickass.

Is it really unfortunate that he's still alive? It seems he really did not want to go to prison, so much so that he killed a crap load of people and jacked at least five cars. He's going to be gone away a long, long time.

I wouldn't have minded it so much if the perp had been the victim in a Boondock Saints type situation. This type of thing just sucks.:( And why did they have to shoot the court reporter!? All they do is record what goes on. Maybe he thought he wa destroying evidence against himself.

Yes. I could care less about a prolonged unpleasant stay in prison. Killing him in the street would save the tax payers the cost of his trial and incarceration and probably give the family members of those killed, wounded, and raped a greater feeling of justice being done.

I'm not advocating a vigilantee style execution. I was just hoping he put up enough resistance to justify the use of lethal force.

But weren't the Boondock Saints actually guilty of murdering people? Sure they were bad guys so I'll skip to their escape. Didn't they not murder anyone in their escape? I know what you meant but you really can't even compare the two.

So is he being tried in a state that has the death penalty? Cause he's sure gonna get it if he is.
Life is beautiful.

Did they hurt anyone at the end except the bad guy?

Hell, I barely remember the end. I just know it was in a court room and they escaped.

What I meant by my earlier statement was that if anyone had to be hurt in a courtroom, it would have been more fortunate if noone but the rapist was hurt.

I live in Atlanta, and my girlfriend actually had an appointment in an office block across from the courthouse 10 minutes after this happened. Luckily, her car wouldnt start so she walked or she would have been in the same parking garage where he carjacked the other people.

This doesnt phase or amaze me. When my girlfriend first told me about it this is what the conversation was like:

Her: "Some guy just killed a deputy, court recorder, and judge Barnes at the courthouse. He escaped and just carjacked some people."

Me: "Judge Barnes? Like Roy Barnes (ex-governor of GA)[That would have sucked, Gov. Barnes comes in to my work all the time and is an awesome tipper]?"

Her: ".....no"

Me: "Oh, never heard of Judge Barnes. Where are we going for lunch?"

The only thing that's different from something that happens every day is that this was in a courthouse. Police Officers are constantly getting killed, innocents the same. It's just not too often that it happens in a courthouse. Get over it.

Atlanta is one of my favorite cities and I've never felt unsafe.... during the day... when I am packing...

My opinions on stuff that's been talked about:

- I've no sympathy for this guy whatsoever. Kirby's POV story does not alter this at all. "Oh no, I'm afraid, I'll just kill three people in cold blood!"? Umm, no. I'm so sorry that this guy is scared after he shot someone in the face. It must be so terrible to be him.

- I'm glad the perp was caught alive, and will face a trial. The police shooting someone never leads to a happy ending; the perp being found guilty after all the evidence is presented removes all doubt from most peoples' minds.

- This courthouse really needs better security.

- The escape was "awesome" (in the traditional sense of the word) but not a good thing.
