Those of you who piss and moan about AWPs and AutoSnipers just simply suck at CS(S). Seriously. Almost every single weapon in that game are balanced. An auto-sniper can be conteracted with some good flash, nade techniques, not to mention, a shotgun to the face will take out the best auto-sniper.

Don't be a dumbass Kirby. Being annoyed by a weapon doesn't mean you suck. The AWP is a 1 hit kill, I call that cheap no matter what, and I don't suck at CS.
2005-03-12, 11:37 AM #43
Kirb--I can usually take out awp/autosnipers with a scout and a deagle, or an AK. But that doesn't mean they aren't annoying nubcannons. The Auto Shotty is even worse, but it's easily countered at long range.

Trust me, I don't suck :p

AWP is one hit kill? That's not the CS:S I've played than.

The AWP is the .50 cal pistol right?
2005-03-12, 11:59 AM #45
No, it's the large sniper rifle.

That's the Deagle. The AWP is the big, 5000 (or I think 4750) dollar sniper rifle. It's one hit kill almost anywhere.

Haha the carbine gun rocked. I edited my cog files so I had a character model for the gun instead. So I was holding the guy and between his legs was where the blast was cu .. coming from, erm yea.

Klobb, yea I hated that thing.
And the knife since CS:S ... GOD it takes like 5 slices to kill someone whos at 100 health.
And the shotty in Halo 2.

Uhh... one secondary fire shot to the back = insta kill.

I never said it couldn't be countered. But it takes little to no skill to use these. If I use an autosniper I can easily take down the whole team of 10+ players without having my health drop below 50. It's just a horribly cheap and annoying gun.

The M16A2 in AA... what kind of an assault rifle takes 4 shots to kill someone in the chest? If it was at all realistic, that gun would take 1 or 2 shots to kill in anywhere but the arms and legs. Plus, all it has is a semi-auto and burst fire (I know the gun isn't designed to have full auto), the latter of which is useless because it's inaccurate as hell. The least they could have done is make the gun ACCURATE.

Then you suck, because secondary fire to the back IS an instakill.

Secondary fire anywhere else is two shots.

The FG-42 of Call of Duty. It's almost as powerful as the sniper rifles, not to mention the scope, and has a rate of fire comparable if not better than some of the automatics. Thank god all respectable servers and leagues have it turned off.

Crossbow in JO/JA. It was so amazing in JK :(

And I've never found use for the jamming beam in X v T or XWA.

Quib, the RD stcky is most useful for humiliation and for shooting walls/ground so a persuing enemy will walk into it. It's also just cool.

Plus they jam all the time and have some really fragile parts. The gun is what... 50 years old?

That's always been useful to me. Equip the beam, then redirect all it's power to your engines! :p

Ah! That would explain it. Played Goldeneye only once, when a fellow student brought it into our Sixth Form common room one afternoon several years back. Everyone was one step away from wanking over how glorious the bloody thing was. I gave it a try, told them that the controller was a piece of crap, and that the stupid little thumb stick was blister-inducing. I then told them to try a proper game on a PC with a keyboard and mouse, I met with a less than warm reception. I also told them that the graphics were rubbish, that their very definition of modern gaming was deeply flawed, and pointed out that you can't hide or launch a surprise attack in a splitscreen multiplayer FPS.

Years later, I played Halo on Xbox after being disappointed with the PC version. Thought it was super-great, and loved the split screen mode.

Well seeing as how I've knifed an afk in the back a couple of times just today, I doubt they changed it.

M16s don't "jam all the time," and are quite accurate...not sure compared to the game though.

We always play either Licence to Kill or -10 health. In Licence to Kill the Klobb is sorta ok, if you can excuse the craptacular accuracy, but with -10 health, unlike any other gun, it virtually never got a 1-hit kill. Meaning if you had the Klobb you'd have to hit someone twice before they hit you once. Arrrrgh

Detty: that vid wasn't impressive. Most of his shots were just against idiots running in perfectly straight lines. Hell, anyone worth their salt can hit a linear moving target!

Nah, your jumping vid was much more impressive.

You know those assassin droids in that Coruscant level in JA? The DEMP takes them out in 2-3 hits, shield or no shield. When you have to fight those six at the end, you can destroy all six with about 2 or 3 fully charged secondary fires.

I'm saying Klobb too. When I used to play Goldeneye with my friends, we considered having a Klobb worse than being unarmed.

You know, im surprised nobody has mentioned this before.
The Golden Gun.

Whenever anyone, even the crappiest players that I have played with, have gotten that gun, they always dominate.
The crappiest players even! people that haven't played goldeneye before!
2005-03-12, 9:16 PM #75
If crappy players dominated you with the Golden Gun, then you suck.

I'd mid-air remote-mine them to death before they knew what was coming.
2005-03-12, 9:30 PM #76
Not so much a gun for me as a type of enemy.

The Sniper Jackals on Heroic or Legendary in Halo 2. Ungodly aim and reflexes. There are some areas where if you just BARELY peak your head out, you're dead instantly.

I have to agree with thw AWP/autosniper. And the Barett in The Specialists. An Anti-tank rifle has no place in a game designed for doing cool stunts and spraying bullets everywhere.

and stuff
Moo.
2005-03-12, 10:02 PM #78
Golden Gun because it has the slowest reload rate in history and carries a single bullet.
Used to be I would barely be able to restrain myself from physically attacking anyone who picked up a laser in GE64. Hated it.
That AWP sounds a lot like the Farsight from Perfect Dark. Can it fire through walls?
The EMP gun is awesome for suprising the hell out of a sniper in a Siege game.
I guess, for sheer lack of accuracy, I'm gonna have to go with Thermal Detonators. In ANY game. The low-yield party poppers they give us in the DF series are just Concussion grenades without the distinct look. Where's the weapon exclusively used in either suicide or demolition missions? These things are supposed to be able to blow a chunk out of a freakin space-scraper, for petes sake!
Oh, and the heavy repeater in JO/JA, simply because I miss the light imperial repeater so darned much.
And, I guess I've always resented the lack of shotguns in Star Wars, with the exclusion of the Golan flechete which misses the number one reason shotguns are such good weapons: The look, and the cocking.

-Heh. Pump-action cocking.

I have to agree with all of that. I think the Phantom Menace game got them right to an extent. When you threw one, you had to turn tail and run like hell, otherwise the shockwave would kill you. The least it'd do is knock you down. And I seem to remember the explosion being able to go through walls. It's been years since I've even thought about it, let alone played it.
