I have no clue about the validity of that, so you may very well be entirely correct, but the logic behind using a heated pin-tip is that the heat causes them to let go, lessening the risk of having the body seperate from the head and cause an infection.

Well, with the whole spider thing, you were close. I think ticks are Arachnids. Just thinking off the top of my head.

Oh man, Ticks freak the living heck out of me. For some reason they just do. I got one in my neck once. That was not fun. I think I got it out using alcohol.

Actually, arachnids technically have 6 legs and two large forward "arms". They don't use them to walk with, they function more like a pair of huge feelers. But they're commonly called legs so I should just shut up. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Arachnids have 4 pairs of legs and a pair of pedipalps.

And if you remember, they could fly, and the marines, firebats, and medics were all humans.. and not flying.

Thus YOU are a ground target.

Mano you realize it's very rare for regular Wood Ticks to carry any type of disease? Deer ticks on the other hand..

Here in Sweden, especially in the archipelagio on the east coast, ticks = disease. It is VERY common.
