Just wondering what metal gear game you think is the best....

VOTE!

Personally, I'm going for snake eater.
nope.

I've never really played them, just fiddled around some with my friends copies, I don't own a PS2.

I've only played MGS and MGS2 and I liked them both a lot.

You forgot Snake's Revenge.

Metal Gear Solid is by far the best one. But the one on PSX is >>> than the one on GC IMO. The voice acting is far and away superior.

I never played the original Metal Gear Solid, but Twin Snakes was Ownage.

What about Metal Gear Ac!d?

Or does that not count?

I loved Metal Gear Solid on the PSX and MGS2... I think what helps MGS2 is that I could beat it in 3 hours start to finish... In fact I think I beat it like 3 times in one day once... I need to buy that again now I that I've got a PS2 again.

Ac!d is insanely fun too, IMO anyway.

Havent played Snake Eater, but Twin Snakes is awesome. The cutscenes in Twin Snakes are so much better and more entertaining than the original.

Snakes revenge is not offcialy a part of MGS canon, it was developed without the involvment of the director and creator of the previous games and was just plain crap of a game.

in short, it does not count.

MGS3 was an awesome game, as was MGS2, but they played with the head to much with the conspiracy stuff, I liked MGS the best because of the story.

A big tossup between MGS and MGS3. I had to go with MGS simply because of what the above poster said. The storyline just worked, and didn't need to have big conspiracies. Plus, phycho mantis > *

MGS and MGS3 were my thoughts, but I perferred MGS3 IMO, not because it had better graphics but because I liked how they wrapped up the trilogy storyline.
No sig.

MGS is one of my favourite games ever.

Not to say that MGS2 wasn't a great game, too. Although 'convoluted' is probably an understatement for it's plot, it was still fun. I haven't played Snake Eater yet, so I can't comment on that.

But you also forgot Ghost Babel (GBC).

I've only played Sons of Liberty on Xbox. Never made it past the first level T_T
VTEC just kicked in, yo!

I've only played Metal Gear Solid. Heh, I bought it a few months ago when I found out I'd be without a computer for a looong time.

It was totally worth it.

Wrapped up the storyline ? They did no such thing!

Who here thinks a remake of MG would be great. Imagine the fight of Solid Snake vs Big Boss in full 3d! Just... imagine...

I've only finished MGS, I have MG, and have been slowly finishing MGS2 + 3 at friend's houses when I come over.

Gotta say 3 is shaping up pretty well, but I still have a soft spot for the first.

Definately Metal Gear Solid for PSX. It's still probably my favorite game of all time.

Who are the patriots? What happened to liquid? Is Ocelot really dead then? Will that hall thing be repaired? What the hell happens to snake?
nope.
2005-04-04, 12:27 PM #19
Ok, I can answer these:

Patriots are explained in MGS3
Liquid was drunk :-P
Was Ocelot ever dead?
Janitor Bob will sort out the 'hall thing'

Snake like all 'good guys' buys a little bit of land, where otacon can steal money over the internet using clever scams, Snake is happy to sneak past chicken in his spare time and build modle metal gears.

He also sneaks into the farmer's daughters room in the neighbours house.

They were barelly touched upon, but were hardly 'explained.' There WILL be another game to finish of the crazy whacked out story, because as of now, it's left very open ended with substance/sol.

No. Kojima is leaving the team at the trillogy point. The games will continue WITHOUT him. Or at least, that's what he says. More than one well known and respected persons have said he'll stay on the team/project.

MGS 3 has the best gameplay. The story is pretty good in that game as well, but I still like FOXHOUND better in MGS.

Metal Gear series > apple pie > * > a turd > * > Splinter Cell

I love Metal Gear Solid, Sons of Liberty, and Snake Eater. They all have subtle differences. Each one is better than the others in some way or another. I think the PlayStation MGS is far better than the GC Twin Snakes. The voice acting is different, and not for the better, the gameplay sucks (the GC controller is pretty much only useful for two button games like Mario Kart: Double Dash), and I don't think the cutscenes reflect how it actually is (Snake can't dodge bullets, etc.). However, it is a respectable take on it, but I will only recognize it as an interpretation.

this group of companies from around the globe was called the Philospers, the money was the pholosipers legacy, and after the war, (WW2) something cause the group to split, or at lease not trust each other so much, the cash was hidden away and only select members of each country knew where their share was hidden.

the col. guy in MGS3 had mangaged to peice it together and had the locations of the legacy and was going to use it to overthrow Russia's leaders and take over, using the legacy to fund things like the Shagohad (Metal Gear).

we later learn in the end credits that after the incident in SE, the american branch of the Pholoshpers managed to find the remains of the legacy and re-named themselves the patriots, they would use this cash to take over the US and control it.

the founders of the patroits that Otacon found out about at the end of MGS2 was the orginal founders of the american branch of the philosphers, who had since died, the current leaders of the patriots are still unknown.

they did wrap up a few things, gave reason for why Big Boss turned on his country and formed outer heaven in the prePSX games and brought more closure to just who the patriots are, but still left alot of questions out in the open.

I'm about 99.9% cure the reason the US gets the lagacy is because of the spy the CIA had in the Col's ranks, code named "adam". Revolver Ocelot is also explained a little and gives a reason for why he's such a huge part in the game.

revolvers real name is adamleskie(I donno... some russian version of Adam....) who works for the CIA, He was the contact that was suppose to meet Snake in SE, but eva screwed soemthing up and delayed Adam from coming, so she came in order to woe snake into helper her get the legacy for the country she actualy works for... Adam was triple crossing everyone... we was working for the CIA who planted him as a contact for the mad Col. he was also suppose to be working for the true russian government, but was also working for them as a mole in the evil col's ranks... lots of crazy conspiracy ****... but still a good game.

I never really understood why...

If Ocelot was supposed to be Adam, then why was he such a dork and kept trying to kill you? He obviously knew who you were. Was it because he was trying to take the Legacy himself?...

I had made that connection, myself. That still doesn't explain why a bunch of dead presidents were on the list for the patriots in MGS2. If I recall, MSG2 had said the 13 patriots mentioned (Some presidents) were still alive and pulling strings, or something similar. Anyone want to help me out here?

Schming: How do you know he was trying to kill you, maybe he was toying with you trying to keep Col. Volgin's trust so he could obtain the legacy. And besides, most people were working with The Boss, including Ocelot.

Kirby: GW from MGS2 was pulling the strings. If you watch the credits to the end, you will notice a text cutscene between Otacon and Snake finding out that the Patriots are dead.

Yes I did meant that the original trilogy is over(which is why I meant it finished the trilogy nicely) and yes I know that an MGS4 is now in the works.

What I meant by what happened to the patriots was, does Liquid find out who the living members are and acctually kill them?
nope.

Sneaky sneaks. I'm actually a werewolf. Woof.
2005-04-05, 10:14 AM #36
we never do find out if liquid does find the patroits, I'm assuming if there is another game, it'll explain that.

and Ocelot was toying with Snake in SE because snake was such a skilled marksman, he was intrigued by snake and impressed with his gun work, he'd never found such a worthy advasary.

plus the whole triple cross thing going on... he couldn't blow his cover to any of the sides he was messing with...

I want a game where you get to play as liquid.

By the way, is it just me, or was the volgan fight a big letdown? I expected him to be 100x harder of a boss, instead you kick the crap out of him, then he just jumps into his big machine and you can still beat him like a piece of cake. I expected a man comparable to raiden to pull off some pretty unique moves. Nope.

Ya, he was pretty simple to beat. The Shagohod was fun, but easy.

Aren't the current Patriots (the ones in MGS2) a bunch of computer AIs ?
