New Zelda video

Why are so many people ragging on Ocarina of Time? Consider that all they had at that point was the A Link to the Past gameplay and the gameplay of Super Mario 64. The game is amazing. Relatively to a theoritical perfect game it is, perhaps, far from perfect; but it has so much heart. It is so sweet and beautiful. I haven't play Wind Waker yet. I have a GC, so I hope to be able to play it soon (and also this new upcoming one I am fairly excited about). However, let's all admit that in those screenshots and video, the game looks horribly aliased and the movements and 3D models look really fake.

My 2 cents: I prefer Ocarina of Time much much more to that of Wind Waker. I haven't played any other Zelda games but those two. My reasons why

1. I hate the portrayal of all these characters in WindWaker. Deku Tree looks so queer, Ganondof looks like he went on an eating spree while locked away, and various other subtleties that ruined some otherwise cool characters.

2. After playing WindWaker for a while, I've found that it pretty much makes anything Link did in OoT not worthwhile. I mean, the game goes ON AND ON about how heroic the hero of time is. Yet, because of the plot of this game (Ganon coming back), Link didn't do a whole helluva lot, did he? More of a "temporary fix" than something. That doesn't really make Link a hero of time now does it, if he wasn't even really able to stop the bad guy

3. The Ocarina is much much much superior than a stupid baton. As someone said in the chat, "Link may pull otu a rockin-axe in the next game".

4. My ideal RPG is one that is totally open. Windwaker is just that, but, I think it's a bit TOO big. While, that one song definitley does help with travelling around a bit, you don't get it until you get the arrow, which is a bit too far logn. I mean, travelling one corner to the other to get one silly item is just awful. OoT was the same way, but on a much smaller scale with not enough action in between. That's something I hope is fixed in this.

5. I hate the ending to WW

6. I at first hated cel-shaded. After a while, I've gotten used to it, but I'll much prefer realistic graphic anyday over cel-shaded. Of course, they used it in part to help wtih teh actual-game engine. Can fit alot more on the screen and can make things seamlss when it's cel-shaded.

Ok, there's my reasons why I don't like WW. I just feel that OoT had the perfect blend of puzzles, action, and adventure. It had a much better story line (which was then butchered by WW), and I think everything was good in scale. Plus, it was defintley one of the revolutionary RPGs.

I shall pick OoT > WW.

My only real problem with MM is that it was way too short.

Yeah, edges of things are a bit too crisp.

Well, if ya just focused on the main quest. If you went through the effort of collecting all the masks in the game, its pretty long. I personally didn't like MM as much as OoT because the quests in MM felt more like a chore than actual adventuring. Plus, OoT had more dungeons that were pretty fun (except for the water temple. That was on horrible dungeon!)

For as much as everyone goes on about the water temple...

I beat it in about an hour without a strategy guide... it was pretty damn straightforward.

You must be some kind of god if you pulled that off.

It's SERIOUSLY straightforward...

Lower level, push block, lower level push block, raise level push block.

I forgot the order. But all you're doing is changing the water level and pushing a block 90% of the time... FREAKING SIMPLE.

The boss was kind of a pain, though.
