I have never been raped...
2005-04-24, 11:41 AM #1
I'm sitting around reading the internet buzz about Episode 3 and I can hardly believe the things I am seeing. First things first. I am so sick of people saying "Lucas raped my childhood!" No he didn't! If you don't like the prequels then don't watch them. No one is forcing you to write about how much you hate the prequels. To quote Lucas "If you don't like it, don't go see it." If you're so in love with the OT then sit at home all day and watch it on your ****ing laserdisc player.

Second thing. "Luca$ is just doing this to sell action figures and make money." Uh let's see, if he were doing it to make money, wouldn't he listen to all of his dumbass fans who think they know what's best for the movies? Instead of blatantly disregarding everything they want. I rest my case.

Third thing. "I can't wait to read the internet after the movie opens to see all of the pissed off fans." Yeah, ok. I'll keep that in mind when I enjoy the movie just like I enjoyed Episode 1 and 2.

The only thing I have to say about people who do not like the prequels and are convinced they're going to be disappointed by Episode 3:

You know what's in that theater? Only what you take with you.

Yeah, I hate when people complain about lucas ruining the movies and making bad prequels and yadda yadda yadda.

Out of curiosity, how many people are aware that lucas didn't direct empire or jedi?
nope.

Probably very few, since they were no-name director's at the time.

Actually Irving Kirschner was a teacher at USC at the time.

I thought they should have utilized that information in the previews for ESB:

I'll quote it too so I can join the ranks of idiots without the ability to actually have a discussion about Star Wars. You know, instead of just posting spoiler pictures all day. Or maybe instead of saying "Oh I hope this next one is good." Guess what: If you don't like the first two, you won't like the third either.

Now grow up.

I find it somewhat funny that the members of this board either hate me with a brutal passion from hell, or they kind of like me every now and then.

The statement "Lucas raped my childhood!" should only apply if, when you were young, George L came over to you and offered candy in his car...

pfft, I didn't get a great to have you back.

Just teasing.

Anyway, I enjoyed the first two films. Of course I have some things I don't like but isn't that normal with any film? I think the third will be a different film. I think there is actually a possibility that traditional fans will like it more than those weened on the first two films.

The person who's *****ing about the prequels sucking had their own concept of what happened. When it didn't happen in the movies they started *****ing about it. They also don't seem to get that watching the OT when they were kids was a completely different experieince than watching the prequels as a teenager/adult and so on.

there are good aspects to the prequels and then there are some awful segments. I swear, Anakins "sand" monologue is some of the worst writing/acting I've seen.

Only second to the fireplace scene. *shudders*

What the kak is wrong with the sand thing? I've never understood that.
nope.

I thought Episode I was a mediocre movie. Episode II had some good scenes (I liked the scene where he broke down after killing the Tusken Raiders) balanced by some bad scenes (sand monologue). I think Lucas' ability is increasing with each movie, and I expect to fully enjoy Episode III.

The dialogue is TERRIBLE, it sounds so forced that its almost the bulimia equivalent of dialogue. The delivery is just as worse.

Actually I thought SAW was pretty good. It had good cinematography for a 1.85:1 movie.

The only good thing about it was the cinematography. The acting was horrible, the plot was contrived and the editing was shotty.

Here are my various and assorted beefs with prequel trilogy.

The addition of all sorts of stunty flipping spinning crap to light saber duels. Hey, because beings with the ability to SENSE what the other person is going to do aren't going to be smart enough to stab someone midhandspring, or with their back turned.. I mean really. That, and they turned the lightsabers into fruit flavored colored blobs (Come on, they're all like the same color as freezie pops now).

The Sithsaber thing with Darth Maul was EQUALLY stupid. Totally just a gimmick. I mean, it can't even be that effective. Part of the advantage of a staff its it's reach, it's not like he can grab it anywhere other than the middle.

Bad acting. I mean, I can excuse little the child actor who played Anakin in TPM... 9 out of 9 child actors suck, because.. and heres the clincher, they're young and aren't that experienced.

I can't however forgive the campy dialogue.

My beef with their latest endeavor is simple. They probably aren't going to put enough Darth Vader in. I'll probably go see it, and be slightly disappointed, but not as disappointed as I've been with the two other preqeuls. I had high hopes for those, this movie I don't.
2005-04-24, 3:01 PM #34
The plot was inventive and the editing was experimental.

And the ending was great.

That depends on whether you associate Darth Vader with a black suit, or with an Anakin Skywalker turned evil...

It would be half assed if they used a crappy 60i home video camera on it.

Doing something different than what you're used to isn't being half assed.

Sin City was half assed. Whether you like it or not. It was a moving comic book. Not a movie. Half of what makes a comic book great is what happens between the panels. Sin City had none of that. Robert Rodriguez did next to nothing on that movie.
