What kinds of foods should you eat before a big test?
2004-05-06, 2:56 PM #1
What kinds of foods (vegetarian friendly) are good to eat before a big test for breakfast? I'm taking a test where, if I pass, I get college credit for a class. (Woo!)

So yeah. What kinds of foods?

Actually, aside from the fact that they're mostly being arses for the sake of being an arse, steak and eggs is supposed to be benneficial before a studying session / exam. I don't remember why, but it's supposedly true.

Nothing out of the norm... Which means usually nothing.

Hasn't affected me yet... Of course I don't waste time studying for standardized tests either.

This isn't your standard state mandated, could be passed by a 2nd grader test though.. It's an AP test.. a "final exam" for a college level class.

And GBK, do what you like, but remember.. I know where you sleep, and I've been perfecting my "Shotgun Persuasion Method" in the past few days..

Lord. If it is in the morning, eat a few bananas. The potassium is an instant source of energy, if it will give you a "jump start" if you are running late. Chocolate can also do the trickt.

Steamed soy milk with honey in it.
Blackened Tofu with coconut cream sauce over steamed vegetables and brown rice.

Or:

Fried potatoes mixed with tempeh chorizo covered with melted cheese [optional] scrambled tofu and salsa. Wheat or sourdough toast on the side.

For you, since it's morning and you'll be doing it yourself:
Some sort of cereal or granola that has multiple grains and preferably no added sugar. Then add that to the honey drink above. As was stated, throw in a banana if possible. And if you like the stuff, those soy yogurt things aren't bad - whatever flavor you want.
The honey drink will give you protein, the simplest kind of sugar possible [honey is absorbed almost immediately in the body] and a nice warm thing inside you since the rest is served cold. The grains will give you some longer lasting energy as the carbs break down during the test. Banana for potassium and the soy yogurt again for protein... these things can sit in your stomach a while, which will take away the distraction of hunger [maybe]. People say other fruit is good too, but... I don't like fruit much.

So depending on whether you use cheese in that second option, they could all be not only vegetarian but vegan. Good luck.

Wouldn't you find something semi-humorous about a vegetarian stabbing a knife into raw, bloody (in this case human) meat?

B. It's pasta
C. It's cheap as hell
D. Takes about 30 seconds to make, with or without a microwave. Hell, if your desperate, you could get away with a freakin match under the can.

30 seconds? I dunno how you manage it, but without a microwave, it usually takes several minutes to get the water boiling, then a couple more to get the block of Ramen to proper pasta consistency.

But CM's right. Ramen = good. However, for breakfast you might want to look into something you're use to having, or at least cereal/bananna/whatever.
