I didn't go. It seemed pointless to go alone, and I was perfectly content hanging out with friends that night instead.

Didn't go. Bought myself some CDs instead. Had a better time.

I managed to miss prom, which I wouldn't have wanted to go to anyway, and was trying to find a way out of without feeling like I had missed something really special. But the way in which I missed it makes up for it nicely. Myself, three of my friends, and our AP Calculus/AP Physics teacher went to Washington DC, narrowly escaping prom by a day. The reason, to do something ultra-nerdy! My physics class entered a national rocketry challenge and qualified for nationals, so a few members of the team needed to go to represent us. Now, keep in mind I've never been to DC, the ASB and the TAG fund paid for airfare, hotel and meals, we live in Oregon, and that it was prom weekend coming up. I opted to go. So yeah, I got to do cool things like watch rockets get launched, check out the capital, and eat food the likes of which we don't get here. All that plus the fact that I get to remove the feeling that I missed out on something when I didn't even want to go to it anyway.

I am considering buying my ticket right now in fact. I guess I'll go if my friends end up dragging me along - but I really don't want to. Ticket is 80$, plus I'd have to rent a suit/tux... In addition to expenses that would undoubtably arise on the night of... That and I'm not exactly dying to go with any of the girls from my school makes it seem like a lot of money for a rather average night...

I never went to any proms and regardless of what people have told me I should feel, I have yet to experience one ounce of regret.

ahhh, see our prom tickets were only 25 a person. And I didn't go out to eat before (well why, I mean there's food at prom, food at prom breakfast, and food at my friends house after prom) and I didn't get a limo. So it was just my dress and my ticket.

but no, I wouldn't say that everyone should go to prom or they'll regret it, it's only fun if you like to let loose and dance (well the food is rather nice as well)

and PS- thanks Geb for your earlier comment! no, I've never had a date to a dance. always had fun

I suppose I might as well post a picture... this is from my prom last year. Note that this was not my date; I didn't have a date in fact, but... uhh... I'm not actually sure why this picture exists.

I never went to prom. Spent the night playing Halo and Ghost Recon with a friend instead.

By the way, sugarless, you look very stately in that second picture. Nice.

i didnt go to prom. i figured, "why pay good money to hang out with a buch of sweaty smelly teenagers, most of whom i dont like and dont like me, listen to music i hate, and probably get dragged on the dancefloor where i'll be humiliated."

i dont regret a thing.

PS Geb: you did a good job finding a girl tall enough to make you look like a normal human being! congrats!

Nope, I'm pretty sure she has two. Well, at least you could clearly see that she has two feet, but I cropped that out in the interest of making the picture smaller.

You all had to pay for prom? Weird...

Well this is from my senior prom, so it's like 2-3 years old. I didn't have a date, so my friend and I went together (she's in the red dress and I'm the one next to her.) So much fun...I miss getting dressed up. (the pic kind of got messed up when I compressed it...)
