Pointless story. Yesterday while I was at work (I work as a waiter at a very famous national chain of restaraunts), this lady orders some salad. Well I bring out the salad, and she immediately asks why I did not put any green onions on the salad. I told her that we do not have green onions, and she said that she always gets green onions with her salad. I had forgotten that a year and a half ago though we discontinued the green onions because of a health hazard importing them from Mexico.

Well I told the lady that we have not had green onions ever since I started working there 3 years ago and perhaps it was at another store where she got them at. She said "Well I've been coming here for 15 years and always got green onions." I looked at her and said "We celebrated our 10 year anniversary a month ago."
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Yeah I get that at work too sometimes. I work at a grocery store and last week some girl came in and asked if we had a certain type of yogurt in the plain variety. I assured her that it did not exist, and she said she got it all the time. I told her I had never seen it in my life - she said she'd come back. So I just happen to be working a couple of days later when she asks for help again, and whaddya know, it still didn't exist. I even showed her the product tags, and she still wouldn't believe me :/

Heh, I work at a fancy restaraunt bussing tables, and someone asked me, "Does the tuna salad have seafood in it?"
That painting was a gift, Todd. I'm taking it with me.

I get stuff like that when I'm reffing lacrosse. The kids parents have no clue what the rules are, yet they yell at me for calls I make/ calls they think I should make. When they get really bad, I just calmly explain the rule to them. What's worse is when the coaches don't know what the rules are.

What? No one remembers the Hepatitis problems stemming from Chi-Chi's scallions? I believe the chain is gone because of it.

I hear stupid questions all the time, but I just get used to it. Stupid questions like "what is the country fried steak made out of?" are common at my place of employment.

Oh management thought it was hilarious, and no I didn't get into any trouble. Reason being is I corrected her, I didn't say "You idiot, we have only been here 10 years." A manager would of said somethign similar, about it only being 10 years. People come in all the time *thinking* that we've been there longer than 10 years, but are shocked when we tell them it's only 10 years. None of them are like "Yeah I remember in 1990 when I first came into this store to eat..."
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

happens to me all the time, people will come into American Eagle telling us that we have a certian type of outfit, when we clearly don't, or they will try and tell us that half their stuff is on sale, when it is not, gotta love it.

Today I had a chap who insisted that his VISA transaction - "PREAUTH" - meant the money was taken from his card, and no amount of persuasion would convince him otherwise. He said he'd check his bank records to catch us in a lie. Naturally, of course, people like him don't even feel remorse about their harsh words and wasted time when they're proven wrong, because they're *******s.

AKPiggott, someone on another forum told me the same thing. I've never seen Road Trip though, not entirely. I've seen parts of it, like the beginning, and the ending. The very ending, when they like got beat up by that wrestler guy was when I turned it on. What's the scene exactly?

Pfft. I work in fast food. The pickup window closes at 1 AM, and we still get people pulling up at 2 AM, trying to convince us that we're still supposed to be open. Every once in a while they call the complaint hotline when we don't serve them...

Yeah, I would always love it when ten minutes have passed since we closed the drive through, then some scum of the earth comes through and tells us we're a bunch of ****ers over the intercom - as if none of us can hear it or something.

You get used to being called a ****er in fast food.

I pulled into Sonic once just before they closed, lights were on and everything, had maybe 6-7 minutes left on my clock. I hit the button and was gonna get a quick thing to eat. I use to go there all the time and tipped the people like $4 just to bring me the food. Well I sat there and like 15-20 seconds later they shut off all the lights.

I stopped going to Sonic after that.

There is a Sonic we used to hit all the time at like 11:30ish on Friday/Saturday nights. They are supposed to close at midnight, but there would be some nights we'd get there at 11:45 and they'd have all the lights off and tell us they wouldn't serve us. DROVE ME NUTS!!!! (especially because they advertised they were open until midnight)

On a more related note, my brother works for Wal-Mart, and he gets to deal with stupid people all the time. The other day, this lady came in and asked him if they carried a certain DVD player in black, and despite him telling her they don't make them in that color, she kept restating, or rephrasing her question in hopes that at some point in time, there might be one in black. I think he said she came back a few days later and asked the same thing. I told him next time she comes in, he needs to ask her why the white ones aren't good enough, and if she has a prejudice against the white ones.

I'd report them to the manager.

YOU LEAVE AT 12:00. NOT 11:45!
2005-05-26, 11:19 AM #32
here at Wal-mart, we're all about "Respect for the customer." That means that if you buy a $50 dollar pair of shoes and tell me, the cashier, that they are $40 (i can only drop $10 without a manager approval, but you could probly get away with it anyways), I will *somtimes but not usually* call back to the back and that never works so i am obligated to honor what you say and give you the shoes for $40. No questions asked. Cuz here at walmart.... yeah, most of the people are in fact smarter than my managers.
I'm not wearing any pants...

The night crew manager was the one who was doing it. She was this old hag who would get mad at us for coming in at 11:45. After a few times of this happening, we ended up calling ahead and letting them know we were coming. We'd be able to get our food then, but anyone else that came in was out of luck.

ya showing up a couple minutes before its time to close its really annoying because you end up making the person have to stay another 10-15min of cleanup past when they wanted to leave...

customers are really inconsiderate to employees.

I work at a county court and we always get people coming in thinking it's the magistrates court, they pass a sign at the door, a sign at the ground floor, another at the first and second, it says it on the door leading into the waiting area and again in the waiting area.
Just to be on the safe side we ask to see their letters and guess what, in big bold font it says magistrates and gives the address, it's usually highlighted too.

Back when I was working in a resturant we used to shut at 9 (not accept any new customers or even take main orders though desert and drinks was fair game). It said it on the sign outside and the counter staff would start cleaning down at about 8:45. You could gurantee somebody would walk in at 9:30 and sit down, you have to bear in mind by this time the counter is empty and half the lights are off. Also half the tables would have gone and everybody else would be onto their desert or coffee. One couple even tried to emotinally blackmail us by saying they'd come all the way from australia just to come to our returant (I had watched them walk past then come back and look at the menu before trying to come in)

While closing early is annoying, insisting that you stay open late is also.

We get that a lot where I work. People come to get their season passes 15 minutes after the doors are closed and locked.

Once, this lady comes up and starts knocking on the sales windows (which have a wall partition between the sales and processing areas, so she had no idea we were still there, plus all those lights were off) about 15 minutes after we closed. We figured we'd just let her figure it out and leave.

SHE SPENT 10 MINUTES YELLING THROUGH THE SALES WINDOWS, KNOCKING VERY HARD, YELLING "HELLO?! HELLO?! WHY DID YOU CHANGE YOUR CLOSING TIME TO 8? CAN YOU STILL TAKE MY PICTURE?"

Note the fact that ever since we've processed passes, it closed at 8. NEVER, has it been any later.

We finally had one guy sneak out back, walk around casually, and act like he just noticed her yelling, and tell her this fact.

She ARGUED the fact, then proceeded to make out a complaint for closing "early", then how its our fault she was late (the lines at the rides were too long!), and took it up to our department manager. She was literally cussing him out, at which point he had the police escort her out, and tell her she was not allowed on the property for 1 year.

She then continues to yell as she is being escorted that we cannot keep her off, it is public property (its an amusement park, it is NOT public property). The police explain that it is a private business, and all the land is owned by the business, and if she comes back, it will be criminal trespassing and she will incur jailtime.

And we get people like this all the time!

Many times employees at electronics places such as Best Buy don't have a clue, especially when I'm looking for rare stuff. Even at places like Microcenter where that's their specialty.

I agree people are stupid, but I tend not to trust every word employees say, because sometimes they DON'T know what's in stock, DON'T know where things really are or just don't care enough to look for you.
