Rob, again, your ORIGINAL statement is WRONG. Wheather or not the people admitted the original "evidence" was fake does NOT mean there is NOT a creature out there that is "like" Big Foot. Just that the ORIGINAL video of Big Foot is fake.

Precisely. Thank goodness someone has the faculty of reasoning.

If there was such a creature as bigfoot, we would've found it by now. If it were so endagered or something that only a few photographs could be captured, the things would be dead by now. Not to mention fossils would exist somewhere. Life doesn't spontaneously generate, you know.

As for sea creatures, who knows. We're constantly finding new sea life. Not so much the same case on land. It's usually new insect species that are found on land, not enormous mammals.

I would like to make some points.

1. Loch ness is a LOCH, not a bloody lake, that's why it's called LOCH Ness!
2. Around Loch Ness it's a known fact that Nessie doesn't exist. They just keep the rumour around as tradition. That, and it's a way of getting gullible tourists to visit a Loch. LOCH!
nope.

I actually had to do a paper on cryptozoology, and I studied the discovery of the Mountain Gorilla. African Natives told of a Man eating troll that lived in the mountains. Scientists that heard the story obviously didn't believe it, but in 1850 a small expedition managed to recover the first known Gorilla body. Before that, no one had ever heard of Mountain Gorillas exept for the natives in Africa. They never found it in the fossil record, and if the did they misidentified it. Our fossil record is grossly undersized to speculate the existance of certain species by it. It's very incomplete, and 99% of it is clam fossils. Not to mention there have been over 1,500 confirmed sightings of bigfoot. All stick to similar explainations with little or no irregularity or variance in description (save for hoaxters).

Loch n. Scots

It's a Scottish Loch, therefore a Loch. You can't call it Loch Ness Lake.
nope.

Eh..Not really. There's still a lot of things we've yet to discover on our own planet... I'm sure if someone said to you 4 years ago "Hobbit like creatures actually existed!" YOu'd slap them across the face and call them a moron for saying so, yet, what exactly was discovered recently?...Hobbit like creatures.

Someone on a science show put it best when they compared bears to bigfoot..Something along the lines of this:

"When you say we would have discovered it by now if it existed, you can't really from a scientific standpoint give any validity to that statement. People say 'oh, we would have found fossils, or some kind of evidence', yet we KNOW bears exist and we have known bears exist in the wild. It's common knowledge. Yet, there have only been one or two records of bear fossils being found in the woods, and as far as we know, bears are larger in population than a sasquatch. You do the math."

That kind of thing has been said many times in the past hundred years or so, and has been repeatedly proven false.

On the subject of the possibility of Homo floresiensis still surviving:
Quote:
Henry Gee, a senior editor of the journal Nature, has agreed, saying, "Of course it could explain all kinds of legends of the little people. They are almost certainly extinct, but it is possible that there are creatures like this around today. Large mammals are still being found. I don't think the likelihood of finding a new species of human alive is any less than finding a new species of antelope, and that has happened."

Also, in my reply on the first page I mentioned the "Bondo mystery apes". Here's an article:

Would you PLEASE quit inserting things into my statements?

I NEVER said a creature "LIKE" Bigfoot didn't exist.

If I had, I would have said "THERE IS NO MISSING LINK LOLWTFRTFMBBQROFLCAKES" or something similiar.

What I said, was that the bigfoot, as in the pop culture urban legend, IS A FAKE.

Please learn to stop reading the imaginary things you people like putting in my posts.

Again, WHAT is big foot? You said "Bigfoot is a proven fake." and what you should have said was "The original Big Foot was proven fake."

If there is indeed a creature that walks this planet that is similar to Big Foot, and we discover him, WTF do you think we are going to call him? Big Foot. Therefore Big Foot is not a proven fake.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

But what if it's feet are in fact small?

Gorillas don't have small feet and we don't call them Small Foot, or Big Foot. What most people classify Big Foot as is a "ape like creature" that walks like a man. If such a creature is ever truly found, then regardless of it's feet, it'll be called Big Foot.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Actually, "Bigfoot" only refers to the large bipedal apes alleged to live in North America. Perhaps whatever made it popular has been debunked, but alleged sightings of the sasquatch go back further than that.

Also, stories of ape-like hairy wild-men exist all around the world, and have existed for centuries. In Germany, there was the "schrat". (interesting fact: Schrats were featured in the 1993 computer game Darklands, which takes place in 15th century Germany. In one possible scenario, they try to steal a female from your party.) There is also something in Russia, though I don't remember the name.
If any of these are discovered to be real, they probably won't be called bigfoot.

The Ebu Gogo legend from Flores is evidence that Homo floresiensis may have survived up until only hundreds of years ago and may still possibly be alive. Also from that general area of the world is Orang Pendek, which supposedly looks like a small bipedal orangutan. These cryptids walk like humans, but are small.

DogSRoOL, people may have quoted only portions of your post, but the responses certainly work for your post as a whole...

I just looked up some info on the schrats:
Quote:
SCHRAT: This large, hairy, hulking creature of the woods is also known as the "wodewose." Roughly human-shaped, schrats are simple-minded, unable to speak, and frequently either angry or lustful (so much so that another nickname is "wild man"). Many have greenish hair, and are mistaken for small trees by some travellers. Others consider them deformed ogres. Little good can be expected from a schrat; if it cannot be avoided, it usually must be fought. Women should be especially careful around them, as they could be captured and defiled. However, the schrat's companion, the holzfrau, is very different.

HOLZFRAU: This large, hair-covered but humanoid female is also known as the "waldmannlein," "woodwife" or "faun." It is the normal mate to a schrat. Holzfraus are intelligent, beautiful in their own peculiar way, and generally friendly, especially if regularly given offerings of food and tools. There are many cases of holzfrau kindness to lonely, lost humans in the woods.

Along with the similarity to bigfoot/yeti type creatures, it seems interestingly similar to Ents.

Haha, ever watch Venture Bros?

Dr. Venture: So you see, by applying the basic principles of the scientific method to the matter, we learn very quickly that the myth of the chupacabra is just that - utter crap. Now, if you apply the same principles to Catholicism, an interesting thing occurs...

Later that episode:

Dr. Venture: after being attacked by a green creature in Brock's car What the hell was that?
Brock Samson: Chupacabra. They're all over Mexico.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.
