If you were in #massassi you'd not only know when updates were happening, but also who got the first download. :p

That JA level looks sweet. The rest of the stuff... eh...

The SBX stuff is just a saber color/hilt changer I think.

Also, there seems to be more life in the JO/JA editing forum, But I hope Massassi can get some great maps in the future (like The Sanctuary). I know some editors how could submit some good maps.

Brian freaking beats me to SotD 9 out of 10 times. I'm getting up at 4 tomorrow to see if I can beat him to it. (And because I have a bus to catch.)

Ahaha DS beat us both this morning :) Usually I wake up at 9:30 AM Pacific and post SotD is the first thing I do.
2005-06-06, 5:04 PM #19
Actually, I suggest that you give leway for the time you can upload a SotD. See, I like to do tomorrow's SotD at like 11:30 PM Central. Currently I have to wait until 1:00 AM Central. I'd love to be able to post before I go to bed, rather than way early in the morning.

Perhaps we could make it so that the screenshot must remain up for a full 24 hours before the next one can be posted?
2005-06-06, 7:08 PM #22
That sounds a lot better. I like that, because then we could get in a better habbit, and the time it opens up wont be early in the morning.

You pasted the URL with a session ID in it so now when people who are logged in click the link, their session is lost. You should turn on "browse forums with cookies" and then the session id won't show up in all your links anymore.

Also so that when you paste links like that, they cant potentially gain access to your account.

Well weeks can go by without a single file being submitted.

Also, once the new file system is completed, it will be a lot easier to post files. I dont post files often because with the current system its a total waste of time to just post one single file, especially when that single file is "omgcoolsabersonlyduellevelforjediknightoutastakajk2", so I wait until I have about 4 or 5 or so before posting them all.

Probably only about 1 in every 20 submissions or so is submitted correctly- with each submission I have to remove the screenshots from the zip (because everyone includes the screenshots in the zip, not as separate attachments) resize them (because they are all at like 1600x1200 resolution), rename them (because they are all named shot0001.jpg and shot0002.jpg), rename the zip file (because it inevitably will include spaces in the file name), search the readme for clues as to whether the map is for Jedi Outcast or Jedi Academy (because apparently most mappers for these games assume that I can tell telepathicially which one its for), wait for the file to finish uploading (because while massassi has great download speeds, its upload speeds are quite slow and unfortunately most files these days are several megs or larger), go through and test the screenshots and download to make sure I didnt make a mistake somewhere (and if I did, someone will inevitably im me to point it out before I figure this out myself, thus further distracting me). Oh yeah, and then if a file I posted is considered to be of sub-par quality, I have to deal with people asking me why I even bothered to post it, people who dont understand that one of the whole points of the massassi file system is that we post everything we recieve so that everyone has a chance to recieve feedback and improve their mapping skill.

Now you can see why every single file poster has eventually slacked off and forgotten about their job. I dont think the number of file posters is the problem, its the system, and hopefully with the new system things will be a lot better.

I didn't slack off, I quit :). After around 450 news/levels posts, I couldn't take it anymore.

If you want to know the definition of "slacking off file posting", please see "Raziel_Nok". He made me post levels while he ate pie....
