You know, they must have cameras at funco-land. They saw me when I picked up that sorry excuse for a zelda game, windwaker. They read my lips in the camera. "Wow, this ****ing sucks. Why don't they, you know, make the graphics BETTER? Not worst."

Thank you, nintendo. Maybe you can stick to this... lack of making a good game's sequel suck.

Maybe it was because that was what they wanted? that's some freaking beautiful cell shading in that game. Don't say the graphics suck just because you don't like the style.

[edit]I just watched the trailer, and all i can say is [http://forums.massassi.net/html/eek.gif]. I was about halfway through before i realized that it was in-game shots, not cutscene.

Wind Waker was DESIGNED to be cel-shaded. I think they did a good job with it.

and did anyone say any of these comments we're posting here about windwaker? No. Because in the end, when people try to hard to use cel-shading, it ends up sucking in the end. I love cel-shading, but windwaker wasn't at all well done as far as cel-shading goes. The number of shade-levels determines it's quality, in my mind. 7 or 8 shade levels is good, while wind waker had 3, maybe 4 for each character. Call it personal preference, but Zelda in no way makes me think of cartoons. At all. Windwaker was a kick in the nutz to REAL zelda fans, the ones who know the old school of zelda. The not-so-3D stuff. This recent game looks to be a lot more where they wanted the original Zelda games to be. They were above their time in graphics, then, and are, once again, in the same place.

Not liking the style is enough reason to say the graphics suck. Even if the technology behind the graphics is impressive.

I haven't played Wind Waker, but despite the fact that I don't like the graphics, it looks like a very fun game.

It's a pretty powerful little system.

This definitely looks promising for a few reasons to me.

First, I more prefer that graphic style opposed to cel shading. Yes I liked WW, no I wasn't one of those people who spouted off "OMG CELDA!" everytime someone mentioned it. I thought it was a good game, and I liked the graphics, but they're not the highest in my personal preference.

Second, I've always preferred the "adult Link" games are far as the 3D Zelda games go(which I guess basically narrows it down to OoT) for some reason.

Third, it's set on a large landmass. I wasn't too fond of the whole WW ocean thing. Also, hopefully this game is set in Hyrule and not in "some far off land" like Majora's Mask was. It always seems the games set in Hyrule are better. Maybe it's the whole Ganon/Zelda aspect that even though it's been done many times, it always seems more enjoyable.

Aghh .. now my hopes are soaring .. if this proves to be as phenominal as the Ocarina of Time, Nintendo'll get a hell of a lot of their old brilliance back .. man, just looking at this makes me wanna play OOT again .. gar nostalgia from great times of childhood .. garrr

I have had my issues with this since OoT -- Link should neither be a "kid" (less than 15) NOR an adult (greater than 16-17). While I wasn't too hot that Majora's Mask and Wind Waker used a younger Link, I've always liked the fact that Nintendo didn't opt to be "cool" and go with the 18-20 year old Link they encouraged in SoulCalibur 2 and the original Gamecube trailer before Wind Waker. Go look at the art work for Zelda 1-4. Link is a TEENAGER, not a kid or an adult.

Which is one of the main reasons I LOVE the new Zelda. His face is rounder, his nose is rounder, his proportions say "teenager." Yes, the graphics are awesome, the weather effects are to droll over, the horseback sword fighting = win, but the final word was seeing Link not look like he should be selling himself out to freaking Playstation cool-kid fans.

Now to find the "pre-order" button... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

I definately had much less of a problem playing a younger Link than an older Link. It has its fun moments, but I'd place playing a younger Link in the same catagory as not playing in Hyrule -- they should only do either occasionally, to vary the Zelda series. Majora's Mask is a good example of a game I felt went off the beaten path well in both respects.

More specifically though, playing the first part of OoT before time-traveling felt to me the same as playing the first part of LttP before going into the Dark World.

Anyone else notice the LotR parallels in the new game? Orc-things on the hyena/wolf rides, Ganon looking a lot like a Barlog... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] Speaking of, I hope they still have some sort of transition to show Ganon as a cloaked, evil-wizardy and/or thief type. Gannondorf as big burly type didn't appeal much...

Windwaker didn't suck because of its graphics (although I would have preferred more realistic graphics, the cel-shading wasn't that bad), it sucked because it turned an exploration game into a tedious "treasure hunt" game, and had basically nowhere to explore because the whole world was a boring ocean. I just quit playing at the point it told me "get heaps of money, then find maps to the triforce by randomly floating about, then go pay Tingle heaps of money, then go and find the triforce bits." How tedious and a pointless excuse to extend the gameplay was that??

As it turns out, this new Zelda does in fact run on a modified version of the Wind Waker engine. If you watch closely, you might notice several things, like the animations and the rain in the beginning, in the trailer that mimic things in Wind Waker. I wonder if Nintendo is completely scrapping Wind Waker 2 and is using this new Zelda in it's place?

Nintendo states this here:
