Feeling exceptionally defiant of fate
2005-06-17, 1:15 PM #1
Anyone else ever had this: I have an upcoming exam this monday, and I just feel like NOT studying it, and having the inevitable kick me in the face. I don't know... The idea of showing up totally unprepared just seems so tempting to me. I'm in of of those fight club mindsets, you know?

Instead of actually studying I have been contemplating how many 8 year olds on a basketball court I could take on in combat before being outnumbered and succumbing to the giant ball of swirling fists, frantic kicking and biting teeth. 25 seems about right.

I just want to fail, and fail horribly. Just this once. Anyone know what I'm talking 'bout?

I got the question from someone on another board, dunno where he got it from. I'm trying really hard now to imagine what an 8-year old looks like. I have no clue.

Edit: I changed my mind. 25 -> 17

Probably between 5-15 atm.....but I suppose it would depend on the size of the 8 year olds. :p

I could totally take more than 35. I'm loaded with two 45 autos and 3 extra clips, for a total of 33 bullets. I also have a 357 magnum with 5 ultra-powerful shots. After that I of course have non-projectile weapons such as baseball bats and knives. By the time they actually got to me, there would be less than an eighth of their numbers left and I could take them hand-to-hand.

Guns? C'mon, be more stylish. A sword would be perfect, I mean it's not like an 8 year old kid's bones would be all that strong. With a good sword I doubt you would have much resistance going through that, you could probably get 2-3 kids in a good whack.

I went to all my exams practically unprepared. I looked through my notes on the 25 min train journey and that was it.

I had an Algebra exam, a science exam, a history exam and a Latin exam (!) and I passed all of them.

Well, if you think about it, no matter how many you have, only about 8 will be able to get at you at one time. Also, if they are wusses like some in know, all you have to do is flick them with your finger and they'll go screaming to their mommies. On the other hand some are much more tenacious. Still, a solid punch to the face will knock any of them out. Also, They could do very little to hurt you. The only thing they could really, would be to force you down to the ground and jump on your face.

I always thought it odd that you have an 'algebra lesson'. What's next, 'Fractions 101'?
I mean, you're going to use algebra in all mathematics and physics. It's not like there's going to be any non-algebra mathematics.

What's odd about it?

What is this studying you speak of?

As far as how many kids you could take, I suppose it all depends on how you were armed. Don't forget 8 year olds tend to become more frightened by shows of force then older people. You take a few of them down in a punch or two, and the others aren't going to be too eager to be next.

Using a cannon a la Serious Sam would be your best bet in defeating 35+
2005-06-17, 5:36 PM #20
About 15. 8 year olds are vicious.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.
2005-06-17, 5:40 PM #21
I'd scare them all away though, so it wouldn't be much of a problem.
Pissed Off?
2005-06-17, 5:51 PM #22
I could take 35.

I would pick them off with a single Assault Rifle until they got too close, at which point I would use 2 sidearms, or something simple like a lightweight pole of some sort.
2005-06-17, 6:09 PM #23
I'd invite them over for dinner, turn them from enemies into friends. Then when they're least expecting it, BAM! the old fork in the eye!

It really depends what kind.

Like, healthy martial arts trained Japanese 8-year-olds would be a bit tougher than starving Ethiopian 8-year-olds.
2005-06-17, 6:27 PM #25
Since I'm the only known Jedi, I would choke 4 of them at a time with my mind, lightning 10 with one hand, and saber the rest to pieces. And then I would force push stragglers. Bam, 35/90/6 million=dead.

I'm going to go with 5-15. Little kids swarm like pirahnas, and some 8 year olds are pretty damn big. However, I'd put up a good fight.

The numerous factors in the combat with the 8 yr. old throng such as speed, formations, ferocity, attack coordination, etc. . . make it hard to estimate.

As for your test, just go in (be cool and exclaim "I'm going in!" when you have to take your test) and do it like Rambo. Rambo always wins. Rambo rules.

No, Rambo as played by Wierd Al rules.

I figure the kids couldn't physically fit around me in numbers high enough to be a significant threat. Eventually I'd get tired, but I can pretty much punch hard enough to kill one.
2005-06-18, 12:15 AM #31
I'll take ten or fifteen at first, but once I'm tired I'll make a fart noise with my mouth, making the other seventy-five thousand die laughing.
2005-06-18, 2:34 AM #32
I put 5-15 simply because if more than that number dogpiled on me I could do nothing. I'm not capable of pulling a Neo-blasting-out-many-smiths-in-dramatic-bullettime thing.

If you dress up in a Pokemon costume, you might take them by surprise.

My idea of winning a war is to surprise the other army. I would create an entire army of sexy women holding machine guns.

If the kids didn't run away from the sword or machine gun, anyone would easily be overwhelmed by about 10. Most people underestimate just how fast 8 year olds can move.

The trick would be to keep hitting them hard enough to knock them out.
2005-06-18, 9:52 AM #37
Kick them in the balls, and go to areas where they can swarm you from all directions. Punch hard in the stomach, hmm... there must be more tactics.

generally speaking, little kids have more energy and go move around for a lot longer than adults so the mere fact that they probably have more stamina than most of us is a big factor also

I read the poll and just about crapped myself laughing. That felt good.

If we're talking weapons, I'm finished. But if we're talking hand to hand, I'm pretty convinced that with my pressure pointing, and pretty fast reflexes, I'll have all 35 on the ground numb and jittering. Killing them all in a timelly matter would be the hard part.

Hand to hand.. Well, probably a lot. I've been in too much streetfights lately, and too many I've won without being hit even once. I hate streetfights though, but they're quite inevitable when people attack you because of your looks. 8-year olds.. Just too easy.
