So I finally got my iPod Mini
2005-06-27, 12:11 PM #1
The green 6gb version. I'd post a picture but I can't find the USB cable for my camera. :o

I realise I could've gotten the 20gb iPod for a little bit more money, but I prefered the size of the Mini. The normal iPod won't fit into all of my pants' pockets.

I'm looking for a good case for this thing, preferably one made of hard leather, with something to protect the screen. Any suggestions are welcome.

Most your CD/MP3 players!

Do you have an Apple store near by? They'll have something for sure.

Is it really safe to put a magnet near it like that?
Think while it's still legal.

Yeah, something like that, but without the magnet. :\
2005-06-27, 12:41 PM #9
as much as i dont like ipods and would love to make fun of an easy joke at a mac design flaw... it would take a strong magnetic feild to cause damage. it's even what it says on the back of my iriver. and 'excessive' moisture/impact... so it can take a little.

K Shintock buddy, after about a half an hour of searching, I found you this. Covers screen, black leather, and a reasonable price.

Thanks man, but I was looking more for something like this, but with just some plastic over the screen or something. Or like the first one you posted, but with a velco or slip-in clip or something.

http://www.mycellworld.com/ipod-mini-cases.htm - item 7088, scroll down a bit.

I appreciate the effort though. :)
2005-06-27, 12:57 PM #12
I saw that one but didn't post it because it doesn't seem to have screen protection and you said you wanted that.:( And the one I just posted has a belt clip.
"DON'T TASE ME BRO!" lol
2005-06-27, 1:04 PM #13
Hehe. No need for a belt clip though, it's headed into my pocket.
2005-06-27, 1:06 PM #14
Use duct tape and glass.

Just bought it the other day, but I'm thinking of taking it back and getting a 6 GB mini for the better battery life. It definately beats the pants off the H10 though.

There is a link on the Apple website that you can put in your area code and it lists all the AASP's in your area from closest first.

The bad thing is that for some, it's not accurate.. In fact, for a lot it's very inaccurate.
2005-06-27, 1:28 PM #18
There isn't any Apple dealers around here anyways. I ordered mine online from Futureshop.

[edit] I just opened the "Starter Kit" that Futureshop gave me, it's got a whole bunch of coupons on the accesories. I guess I'll check them out.

are you high????? DON'T DO IT!!!!!!! MICRO IS SOOOO MUCH BETTER!!!!! It is much cheaper, does more, looks better, sounds better, and you can get extra batteries for it for 20 bucks! Don't go for a mini because of extra battery life! The Zen Micro has a removable battery! Don't be stupid! All who buy Apple over Creative and iRiver is... is...

There's many reasons to get the iPod mini over another player:

Clickwheel, carved out of a SOLID BLOCK OF ALUMINUM (how much more badass can you get), longer battery life, some people like iTunes (I have no idea WHY), etc.

Now the iPods that aren't minis...well I just couldn't see myself buying them anytime soon, let's just say that.

But the Micro has blue LEDs! How much more bad *** can you get than that?! And Zen Micro works with iTunes, too, sonny.

I know the iRiver has OGG support...it also has a less intuitive interface, a little less battery life, a color screen (which may or may not be your dig) an FM tuner, a mic (I THINK there's one on the H10).

Trust me, I know the flaws and advantages of both players...I'd still pretty much have either a mini or a really good H120.

1 GB iPod shuffle

A gig is fine for my small music collection. I may get a 20 or 30 GB ipod in the future to store multiple albums of songs on.
All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

Uh, for $30 more I get another GB, a longer battery life and a better interface. And the extra features for the Zen (the mic and the FM radio) are pretty much crap. The only real thing it has going for it are the backlit controls, better sound (supposedly) and drag and drop.

While the removable battery is nice I'd never take it out except if it died. I don't plan on having to swap in extra batteries. And Creative still hasn't fixed the mysterious battery drain on the Micro.

oh yes and the sound on the iriver's are amazing. that SRS WOW digital stuff is great
sound recording is wonderful
radio is as good as radio gets
photos look amazing
you can have text files, too
video playback is great

and the fact that it uses no software to put files on it and make artist/playlist directories makes it even more awesome. it does come with optional software for some kinda virtual database thing, but i dont use it. i can basically use it for an external hard drive, which kicks ***, especially for video editing.
