I do not own a DS, nor do I own a PSP, but I am informed enough to know that:
1) The vast majority of SNES games on the PSP do not run at even close to their full speed. It is also doubtful that they will any time in the foreseeable future because Sony is so hush-hush about their graphics architecture that all emulators will only be able to take advantage of the PSP's processor, which does not translate into a lot of speed for emulators unless a lot of optimization is done long term.
2) The Nintendo DS has emulators now as well, with the top dog being based off Snes9x and showing considerable progress. I wouldn't be surprised, given the DS's rather open architecture in comparison to the PSP, that it will run NES/SNES games better than the PSP eventually despite less raw power.
3) The reviews of DS games I've seen recently have been rather positive, especially of games like Kirby Canvas Curve and Meteos. And these aren't remakes either.
