[No I do not think this should be in the music forum]

Well theres 20 minutes to go till the London concert starts and I found it a little odd there's no thread[s] on the so called "supergig".

How many people are watching any of the concerts?
Anyone know of massassians actually going?
Who is the best act?
What concert has the best line-up?

Discuss.
nope.

I'm not really paying attention to it.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

I'm taping it and watching it all. Really hope Brian May does the guitar when Robbie Williams does We Will Rock You.

Was watching some of it. Just checked out the listings and I'd only be interested in Barrie, some of London.

I'm sad about Judas Priest not being there though. It'd be a perfect thing for them because they just got back together.

All this does is does it put more money in the hands of the corrupt in Africa, it does nothing to solve any of the real problems there.

agreed, but its better than doing nothing at all...

personally I believe things like this are only short term solutions to a much larger problem and won't change the situation in Africa one bit...but hopefully it may change/influence the people/governments that can change things.

on the live 8 front, some good bands so far, liked the stereophonics, one of my favourite bands of old, all the bands have been good so far, watching most of the event so looking forward to quite a few bands...

What's up with Clapton not performing? He was at Live Aid in '85 and it's not exactly like he's retired today.

Seriously, though...Pink Floyd's a band again! Roger came back. This I GOTTA see.

live8 isn't raising money. there aren't any phone numbers to call to pledge your money, just to sign a petition to the G8 leaders.

I just was watching it and it said all procedes are going to Africa. And this is sparking people to send in money to African economic aid situations.

Edit: And what the hell is U2 doing "recreating" Seargent Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band.. It's a disgrace.

If they really wanted to make some money to aid Africa, they could've sold the tickets for a very low price, instead of simply giving them away. They could've made millions of dollars, and the concerts STILL would've sold out in 15 minutes.

And then have 90% of that money go straight to Africa's dictators. Giving them away for free was probably better :/

This isn't about giving money to Africa; we've been doing that for the last 20 years. Throwing money at Africa never worked. The general public have given enough, they've done enough; it's now time for the politicians to do their part, and that's what Live 8 is trying to do. Setting up fair trade, cancelling debt, that sort of stuff.

My only concern with 'Making Poverty History in Africa' is that perhaps we should make poverty history over here first.

That seems a little selfish... I mean, we're way better off than Africa. They need help more than we do. I know that's a generalization, but still... :(

If we can't do it here, what hope do we have to do it for them?

I saw Green Day do American Idiot in Berlin (the beeb showed it between 2 acts here in Britland). I almost lost control of my motor functions.

<3[/i] Green Day.

(It would be nice to have seen the other songs they did - does anybody know what they did?)

Been trying to listen to as much as possible on the radio down here, what I have heard has been fantastic.

Only problem with so many amazing acts playing in one gig is that none of them play for as long as you really want them to :)

Highlight for me so far was hearing Chris Martin sing backup for Richard Ashcroft on Bittersweet Symphony, followed by Coldplay - Fix You... Wow.

They were cool, but you gotta admit...

(which one's the lead singer? Armstrong?)

that guy has no singing talent whatsoever.

I do like how every other artist has been swearing their faces off, well before the watershed! That'll make the tabloids for sure.
