There you go again. It probably seems that way because the only thread's I have posted on lately have to do with race. And I never brought up the subject, merely joined the discussion. If I recall correctly, Wolfy brought up something about the n-word in a thread...I saw his comment, but ignored it hoping it would just pass. Someoe brought it up, and we discussed. My father drinks beer, my uncles all drink beer. I'm always around people who drink beer. When i worked at a bar two years ago, do you know what people drank? Beer. So between my relatives and hundreds of peoples opinions at a bar, I'd say I have the right to post. It may not be my opinion, but it is the opinion of the people I have spoken with. Some college kids told me once how the only reason they buy budweiser is because it's cheap not because it taste good. Basically everyone that got Guinness said they love the beer more than most beers here but once again with the money. It's more of a drink for sitting down with and relaxing. It's a much darker and thick brew than most. As for Sam Adams, everyone but college students would order that because it's not only cheap but it has flavor too. They even said the Sam Light wasn't as bad as most light beers. My dad loves going to different places and tasting beers. At home he drinks mostly Sam Adams as well. I know my dad and he won't drink most crap beers and he doesn't like to spend alot anyway on drinks. So from him and the bar folks I can gather that it's a pretty good beer.

LOL. Flawed oncee again. If you really talked to college kids about cheap beer, they would name Keystone, Red Dog, Busch, and Natural Light ALLLLL before Budwiser. Thats like you saying trojan condoms are better then walmart brand when you damn well you havent stepped two feet close to that situation with a girl. Catch my drift?

Now before this little child interrupted us, we were talking about beers, weren't wee?

I really like that Amber Bock. It is not too hard for a dark beer, and really goes down nice for anyone who thins dark beer is a bit hard.

I'm crippled. I wish I were black AND crippled. You never see minorities like that. Only one or the other. Wait, crippled, black, and jewish. I don't think it's possible to NOT go to college with that much affirmative action taped to your skin!

And to tie this back into the thread: I'd drink beer at college because that's what college kids do. And I hate american beer, and prefer wine coolers, or Canadian beer. Ooooh, or anything australian.

What exactly is a wine cooler, anyway?

Anyway, Corona's a nice drink, especially with that slice of lime in there. Otherwise I usually drink Carlsberg when it's available.

All we were drinking during the fourth. Amazing beer, pretty easy and social to drink, and tasty. I'm not a drinker to get drunk.

Wine coolers, from what I understand, are basically malt wine. Like a cream soda with alcohol. I'm 3 feet tall and can down about 8 of them before getting even remotly drunk. 12 and I'm passed out.

HOLY **** UBUU'S BLACK?! NOTIFY THE PRESS.

Shut up SAJN.

Anyways, I do believe this thread was about your opinion, meaning you have experience with beer. Like drinking it. Meaning not you SAJN. Oh yeah, and Ubuu's post about the other beers is right. I know a lot of people who just like the taste of Bud. There's also no 'good' or 'bad' beer (with the exception of the brands Ubuu mentioned), it's all just in the taste buds. Sam Adams is no better than Bud, at least not 'officially' though many people's opinions may line up with that train of though.

Hopefully next year I'll be able to sample some of the microbrews that come straight out of the brewery around town.

Can't everyone just lighten up and talk about beer? Nearly half the posts in this thread are about people's right to post on this thread, and you know what, its a free ****ing internet.

English Ale > English bitters > Continental lagers > English Lager > American beer in general.

Never had the pleasure of Canadian beer, but I'm looking for some....

Never drank Labatts, martyn?

And stout is <3

cant beat a pint of guiness extra cold.
2005-07-05, 3:35 PM #51
Ooh, maybe before I hit 18, but certainly not sice going to uni...

Guinness is OK, but it's overrated if you're not in Ireland (or at least a pub that keeps it decent).

Oh, and Extra cold is the same beer from the same barrel just going through different pipes (just in case you didn't know), same goes for Carling Extra Cold.

There are some more nice beers around the world, the croatian Bockarev, Russian beer isn't that bad eater. And in Hungary we have our Soproni Ászok, Szalon Sör and Borsodi.

i live in Hungary. if you'd mentioned Arany Aszok, i'd have had to hunt you down. thing is, you drink it, and a headache's guaranteed. it's simply terrible. but, yeah, some good beer here.

my favorite's probably Stella Artois, though.

You forgot Pabst Blue Ribbon. =P

I'd have to say Guinness probably, but I don't drink beer much outside of parties, where it's generally limited to Natty Light, PBR, and Bud Light (if I'm lucky it's one where I know the guy in charge of the beer, heh). It's funny how even the "rich" frats at the "rich" colleges still use the same old stuff.

Koobie, if you work in a pub, you will notice that all the abusive males who are evil to their wives, start fights and probably hit their spouses all drink wife beater/stella.

^--fixed slightly.

It's like drinking from the Rhine.

That's why when you want water in Germany, you say "Ich mochte...ehm....Mineralwasser" instead of "Ich mochte Wasser".

(F.Y.I. "I would like...ehm...Mineral/bottled/good water." and the second sentance
"I would like your tap water filled with crap.")

If you order without the "mineral" they'll either thing you've gone mad or a tourist, and give you what SAJN_Master drank.

This reminds me of what germans would be like drinking Sierra Mist.

Hej, Sajn, German water is very regional, where I live, we have one of the best water qualities of the whole world! But I don't really know what you where talking about - I drank too much "Zwiefalter" .. another good German beer :)

And, I was talking about bockarev, bockarev is Russian I think, the Croatian beer I was talking about is "Karlovakcko"

That's the problem. All they had was mineral water. Icky stuff. It was thick with minerals. Thats how I explain it. it actually had a strong taste and it was thick. It also costs an average of 3 Euros...A GLASS. What a ripoff. :p Only in SOME places. More so Austria than Germany. A lady in Munich said they had some of the best water in Europe, I just can't get used to it. I'm too used to our crap I guess :p
Think while it's still legal.

Ugh, that reminded me of a girl I know who earned the nickname "two wine coolers". It was after those two wine coolers that she showed probably the biggest display of fake "give me attention" drunkenness that I've ever seen. Or she has lower tolerance than some of the Asians I know...

Stella Artois is probably my favorite. Sapporo is very nice too. Even some cheap beers are very enjoyable - Lucky, Lakeport Honey Brown, Carling are all pretty good when you are on a budget. Labatt Blue is probably my favorite Canadian label I can think of.

I'll have to try Sam Adams some day.

  • Stone's Arrogant B*stard Ale
  • San Marcos Brewery's Amber Ale
  • Karl Strauss' Red Trolley

The last two on that list are local breweries here in San Diego. I will agree the American macro-brews (save for Sam Adams) are nothing but colored, alcoholic water. But the aforementioned list..mmmm they are heavenly. I need to refill my jug right quickly.

Heineken isn't even German. It's Dutch.

The Czech stuff is good.
Pilsner Urquell > Velkopopovický Kozel + Kozel Dark > Orval (mmmm... Trappist beer) > Kilkenny > Guiness > Tiger Beer
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

Ubuu, in terms of cheap beer wheres the love for 'old e' and PBR?

Half of those import beers I don't think i've ever heard of...

To truely have an opinion though I do think you should actually drink beer before you make up your mind.

Budwieser has its moments in the right settings, as does other beers. American beer is not all that bad, just give it an unbiased try...

A major source of objection to a free economy is precisely that it gives people what they want instead of what a particular group thinks they ought to want. Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.
