How do people find us?
2005-07-14, 2:17 PM #1
How do new people come to our site? It doesn't make anysense. Most of us came over when someone on the zone told us we had to get a level or a mod here for JK. Where do the younger people come in?
It took a while for you to find me; I was hiding in the lime tree.

JK Files ==> Lycos/Yahoo ==> OutpostD34 (i think that's what it was called) ==> zone ==> need bfp2 ==> MASSASSI

That was my chain, god knows how everyone else did it.

Outpost43D? Isn't that Fardreamer's site?
2005-07-14, 2:41 PM #12
I was told about Jedi Nights and Massassi at the same time. Massassi was still a hosted site when I started visiting the forums. *Goes off to remember the good old days.

My good friend Google.

I was just looking for custom JO SP levels years ago. And that's what I kept doing for a long time - the forums didn't draw me in back then. I actually registered only for the sake of one old Massassian.

I discovered www.jediknight.net by doing a search for places to play JK. I started playing on the jediBoard/Qtracker/ReconDroid, and eventually stumbled upon JKMAG, www.jedinights (now links to Linux Games), and www.massassi.net.

I introduced several zone people to massassi. ("Where can I get this lvl" "www.massassi.net" etc)

I wanted to play in a room in the Zone. The people asked if I had a mod, I said no and asked what it was. They sent me here.

A few days after downloading quite a few mods, I went to the forums, and I've been here since then.
Very funny Scotty. Now beam down my clothes.

Someone directed me to a tutorial [I think it was Gothicx, might not have been]. I also came here to submit some Ja skins [crappy] and stayed here.
nope.

I came here when The Admiral's Command Chamber began to die. The site is still up, but it's effectively dead. There have not been any updates there in a looooong time.

Well, it was JUST after The Phantom Menace hit theaters. I had been a long-time dark forces fan, and had just recently purchased JK. I went online and searched for other star wars video games, and found that people were making their own crap for JK. I reached TACC first, and saw links to massassi from there. I joined massassi for help in the editing forum, and learnd some basic skills. Then joined The Phantom Menace TC and vastly improved my skills. During that time I posted the occasional showcase thread here, but after the project died I spent more time on these forums.

the command chamber, found that one on yahoo also... it took me years to have the courage to sign up though....
Nothing to see here, move along.

I randomly smashed keyboard keys and appeared here. New people probably arrive through a similar twist of fate.

Well.. either that or their friends tell them to avoid Massassi, which compels them to investigate it. Kind of like that thread about the website with the virus.

My Brother(Mystic0) who most likely found it on the zone.
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

MSN Gaming Zone, all the way.

Shame more members of massassi didn't support the zone in it's final days. :(
2005-07-14, 6:07 PM #34
I was in the zone for JK back in 98 or 99 and joined a room. They said I needed a custom map (I was new to computing back then, I didn't know what MODS or anything like that was) that I could download at massassi. I went here and from then on I downloaded more than 40 mods from here or TACC, joining the forums sometime later when I stuck with MotS.

You might be thinking of DarkJedi.com... It was a JK fan site for a while (I think) but it now just re-directs to starwars.com.

Someone linked me to an amusing thread and I ended up joining and lurking for a while.

I don't even like Star Wars any more than a mild interest.
