And what does that matter since I now have the problem? I don't care if you and millions of others don't. I do. So shove off, Ian.
You know what I love the most about that? Anytime he gets exceptionally pissed off at me he uses my real name. I just find that funny as hell.

So I'm pissed at you? I always call you by your real name, unless I'm referring you to a friend because most massassians don't know who Ian Sechler is.
Too bad MPlayer doesn't in the MOST USED OS IN THE DESKTOP WORLD. "bzzt"
Too bad the most used OS in the world is the reason it doesn't work. LMAO n00b.

Yeah well I could give a damn less if (even though you're just using this excuse) it's the 'reason', I still don't have a dedicated linux box and I'm still not gonna use it.
Yes, I am blaming it on Windows, because its true. mplayer does multiple monitors perfectly in linux. Bzzt.
If it can be achieved, even with a hack, it should be done. If your target platform doesn't support the ideal method, you need to work around that. It's being creative, it's what software engineers *do*. VLC works great on multiple monitors, MPlayer doesn't.

Woh, Woh, I just re-read the thread.

I totally read what you said wrong. I thought you meant playing on both screens (stretched).

If you want mplayer to play on the other screen, there are many options for that.

You can get one of the GUI mplayers, which are aware of their window positioning and head locations. Or you can use a configuration option to specify which head you would like it to appear on.

So, that's all moot now, mplayer does do it.

I just meant playing normal or fullscreen on either monitor. It would also be nice to be able to resize the window, which I can't seem to do with the gl2 mode in MPlayer. At least not without simply dragging the corners of the video. I want to drag the MPlayer window over to the other screen, hit F and have fullscreen working on that monitor. I should need to specify which monitor at startup.

Then you need the GUI version. Go to the projects page on mplayer's site and download any of the GUI addons for mplayer.

Or if it really bothers you, you can get a winamp plugin that overrides winamp 5's video playback and integrates mplayer with it, allowing you to use winamp as the GUI.

In the next days I wouldn't use mplayer to play files from untrusted sources.

mplayer already had this in their mailing list before that advisory. And it's already been fixed in the nightlies, and it does not affect the windows version at all. (Only Linux kernel 2.4-6)

Are those REAL GUIs or just launchers where you select the file, options and it opens the regular MPlayer window with your settings? Because those suck. I haven't found a real GUI that didn't suck.

I'll find ya a good one.

Here's a Winamp2/5 plugin that will replace Winamp's video abilitys with mplayer. Basically, you get the best of both worlds. The winamp interface, and mplayer capabilities.

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/inmplayer/in_mplayer041.zip?download

I'm still looking for standalone GUIs, give me a sec :D

This is a good (but slightly ugly) one, complete with installer: http://mplayerc.sourceforge.net/

This one has a much more slick look, but you need to install mplayer first. (Directions for how to do so are at the bottom of the page)
