one more **** giving christians a bad name. what a ****ing piece of **** this **** is!
Quote:
On Monday, Robertson said on the Christian Broadcast Network's The 700 Club: "We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability."

"We don't need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator," he continued. "It's a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job."

So how exactly is an opinion that a problem such as Hugo Chavez should be dealt with unconventionally a bad thing? I seem to remember many here at Massassi espressing similar opinions on how they would have preferred to see Sadam dealt with. Gasp, some of them may have been Christians as well!

How does saying that he deserves to die make you any better than he is?

Heard about it.

Yeah, I read about this on Fox a couple days ago.

What was I doing there? I don't even remember. :p

I would definitely call Pat Robertson one of the worst Christians around.

I remember seeing a clip of him doing a prayer to see a spot open up on the Supreme Court.

God's up there thinking, "Alright, cool, Patty-boy. Car crash time!"

I was there too. I was trying to find the video clip they had on their site about Jessica Alba digging older dudes. It was gone by the time I got home. Damn. But at least I have a chance!

Well this is another story that can be added to other such Pat Robertson gems:

Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now doing to the evangelical Christians. It's no different. It is the same thing. It is happening all over again. It is the Democratic Congress, the liberal-based media and the homosexuals who want to destroy the Christians. Wholesale abuse and discrimination and the worst bigotry directed toward any group in America today. More terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history.

How can there be peace when drunkards, drug dealers, communists, atheists, New Age worshipers of Satan, secular humanists, oppressive dictators, greedy money changers, revolutionary assassins, adulterers, and homosexuals are on top?

I think we ought to close Halloween down. Do you want your children to dress up as witches? The Druids used to dress up like this when they were doing human sacrifice... [Your children] are acting out Satanic rituals and participating in it, and don't even realize it.

I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that's the way it is, period.

This is God's power and he sent this thing to warn us ... we needed a shock.
-- Pat Robertson, remarking on the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, quoted by Robert E. Norlander in a dispatch of September 14, 2001

Admittedly some on the Supreme Court are commie sympathizers like Chavez but I don't condone taking them out. Conventionally. Erm, uh, unconventionally. Umm...

i can't speak for other christians here or anywhere else but i for one don't follow the teachings of christ nor am i obligated to follow the commandments other than those that are made law by society and ethics/morals.
here is a man that preaches the teachings of christ, in america no less. for such a man to make public statments like this is pure idiocy. not to mention hypocricy (sp?).
shall not we all forgive? especially those who follow christ and look to god for moral support in times of trouble?
this man has only made christians and america look bad and has confirmed more attacks on innocent non-christians in america.
what a ****ing *******!!

Early today he claimed that he never said "assassinate", instead that he said "take out" and that "there are many ways to take someone out without killing them". So after listening to the tape from the day before (he clearly said "assassinate") he apologized and said he spoke out of frustration, and that assassination is wrong.

He's just trying to cover his *** after the backlash.

Not saying that Chavez is one of them, but there are people who this world is definately better off without. When someone is purely evil, isn't it the responsible thing to do to make sure they are not able to hurt others?

Really depends. According to some Christian doctrines, if the person poses a huge threat to others, and cannot be stopped any other way, then violent action might be necessary. In pure turn-the-other-cheek, it's not.

That's not what "turn the other cheek" means. It's true meaning is lost on too many people these days. It's not an act of non-violence as so many people believe. In Biblical times, it was a common practice to slap people when they screwed up with a fore hand slap. Back hand slaps were only used by the lowest of the low on the social ladder. If you were slapped on the left cheek, by someone's right hand, you "turned the other cheek" to present them with your right cheek. This presented the slapper with a choice: forehand slap with the other hand or backhand slap with the same hand. If you got a forehand slap, you were the person's equal. If you got a back hand, you were socially superior to the person who just slapped you. So, the phrase has nothing to do with letting someone slap you around.

A minister calling for the death of anyone isn't appropriate.

Somehow, I don't see Jesus going around "Today I'm going to cure some lepurs, and assassinate the President of Venezuela".

They obviously don't check grammar... :p

And yes, I think there is something very wrong about any religious leader calling for anyone's assassination.

He also doesn't seem to realise that the US has a non-assassination policy.

I think the Kennedy admisistration tried that with Castro. You can see how well it turned out.

But they didn't hire a specially trained Israeli sniper either. The Israeli's are some crazy militants.

Seriously. If there was a conflict between the US and Israel, and their military were as sizable as ours, we would get our arses kicked.

I disagree. They are competent and generally have more opportunity to display their skills but the scenario of an Israeli military as large as ours being better than ours is fantasy. The potential to recruit that many quality people on a massive scale doesn't exist in a democratic environment.

and it's hard to beat a >$300,000,000,000US monthly budget like the US department of offenses.
2005-08-25, 7:45 PM #40
Department of Defense. I prefer the original War Department moniker but that's not politically correct. And DoD is more accurate terminology as our military certainly needs to act other than just in easily definable times of war to ensure our security. Anyways, even with all things being equal, Israel having a similar military budget and pool of people to recruit from, they could doubtfully exceed the capability of our military. Equal it, perhaps, but not surpass it.
