What's even more annoying is when people come into a debate thread with a series of one-liners based on nothing more than "LOOK AT ME I CAN POST IN THIS THREAD LOLZ." Those kinds of posts are for "what's your opinion on this" type threads, not for debate threads. If you can't tell the difference, quit posting altogether.

You all know who you are.

Also, if you don't like debating, here's an amazingly logical idea: STAY OUT OF THAT THREAD. It's really annoying when people come in and post something about how debating is evil and you'll go to hell for posting in the thread. Or about how every time there's a debate, it's automatically a "flame war." Usually, that's people who haven't actually read the thread. Either that, or they have no idea what a flame is.

Just in case you don't know the difference: A debate is the exchange of ideas. A flame war is the exchange of insults. I know... some of you are prone to pms and random mood swings. If you find this post offensive, for example, you're probably one of those people. Get over it.

I think half the people here want to get insulted. I've seen people take offense over the most absurd things. Grow up already. Cripes!

I agree that telling someone to look up your source takes away the legatimacy of your argument though.

It's been proven that telling people to look it up is better. If you don't believe me look it up your-self.

Actually, I was discussing this very topic with an English professor at the local University not too long ago, and she said that both spellings are acceptable and considered correct. Just a little food for thought.
I can't work with JED or JKEdit, I can't make skins or 3DOs, and I know zilch about HTML coding and cogging. But I *CAN* build a quality computer for less than what Dell or Gateway charges. That counts for SOMEthing, right? Right?

Your name offends me. Dogs are *not* drool. If you don't believe me, yahoo it. :p

Dammit looks better than damnit. If you don't believe me, well, uh, do something not involving pushing the point any farther than it needs to go. Now I'm going to bed saying "Bill won't kill me. Bill's imaginary. Bill won't kill me. Bill's" etc.

Telling someone to "Google it" is not a good argument. Remember that a lot of stuff on the net is garbage. Someone may indeed find something when Googling It. However, it's more likely to be complete bullsh!t than proof.

If you are having a discussion, and someone asks you to back up your claim, please do not tell them to google it and "they'll find out." Hey, you're the one that knows it's out there; you ****ing google it. Show me the link and I'll believe you.

I'm not going to google for your beliefs. Give me a handful of links and I'll read over them, but if you just tell me to google it, that translates into: Hi. I have nothing to back up what I just said, so I'm going to tell you to go find the proof, since I don't have any.

STOP!

I figured I'd let this go for awhile before responding to you directly. There are times when I feel it appropriate not to post links to back up my point. If I'm discussing something with somebody who claims to be knowledgeable or at least acts like they are but needs cites for what should be common knowledge for someone versed in the topic THAT person needs to do some research because they're obviously not as well read on the subject as they pretend. Another time I don't like to link to sources are when the only agencies that report certain facts are likely to be considered biased. NewsMax for example is a conservative news outlet so even if something they report is correct it is likely to be considered biased. I usually won't link to a source other than CNNish because I don't like dealing with the fallout that whatever site lies etc.
