It's ok, I was in a bad mood earlier today...I apologize... :(

As for the pink polo shirt - no. Just another fad, like the popped collar. I swear - you'll goto the store and see three guys wearing pink polo shirts in different shades with popped collars. The only reason I could see really a guy wearing a pink polo shirt is to express himself (not saying it's a gay color), but when the entire group wears them with popped collars - argh!

And I wear whatever I want. I don't care what the trend or latest fad is - I wear what's comfortable and works for me.

I find that people near where I live are too stupid for sexual innuendos. I prefer the direct approach:

Popped collars weren't cool in the 80's, and they aren't cool now.

Freaking stop it, please!

I doubt they're going away anytime soon though...

I think it's AE making it so their logo is actually under the collar, encouraging you to pop it.

It seems to be the new in thing...

Asked one girl why she did it at work and she said "Oh, it accidently popped up" and she put it down and started blushing. The next time I saw her, fully popped again with different shirt...

*sighs*

I don't know if my $ .02 is worth anything in this thread, but I have to say that I love polos with a pair of jeans. It's easy, it's comfortable, and it looks pretty nice. I wear what appeals to me, though AE isn't always in my price range. That being said, I don't pop my collar unless I'm goofing around. (Though I hold nothing against those that do)

Seriously though, it's crap to stereotype an entire gruop of people who wear specific clothing. I know lots of people who shop at AE who are fantastic and fun to be around and yes, intelligent as well. I also know a bunch of people who shop there who are dumb, annoying, egotistical snobs. The point is, it's easy to label a group of people, especially based on what they're wearing, until you really get to know some of them.

yeah, that's right

Ubuu, I dont wear those clothes and I still get lots of ***.

Well, I take that back, I have several AE shirts back when AE had that cool "vintage slim fit" line..... One of my favorite shirts ever is this AE shirt I got at the thrift store for $6. It's soooooooo awesome. It's blue and red striped with silver threading. It's complete badass and it's definitely hot and helped in many situations.

Girlfriend's mom? If that was true, I find that so wrong.

It's quite true. They went to mexico a few years ago and bought a bunch of shirts. She and I joke around together (we're really close) and she, knowing my personality, thought I'd like it. She was correct.

I don't mind shirts in general unless they have stupid logos and or catchphrases, or the person wearing them popped his/her collar. Then the shirt, and the person, need to be burned alive.

Buying from AE, A&F or Aero has nothing to do with being a "poser" in my book. It has to do more with the fact that their clothing is just *not* fashionable outside that annoying high school "poser" crowd. Wearing nothing but plain shirts and Linux shirts isn't exactly fashionable either.

Who cares whats fashionable, just do your own thing.
2005-09-10, 2:25 PM #58
"Doing your own thing" is fine, but there are times when it's not. Like, if you want to get a job, have a girlfriend or just leave a good impression on people in general.

You shouldn't be a conformist, but the "f*** the system!" non-conformist attitude is just as bad.

Hey, to my credit the linux shirt has no words on it, just the fedora symbol, and there are kids at school that wear nvidia t-shirts. Not to mention I'm not exactly unpopular :p
