Saxaphone, duh. Saxaphone is for all those cool cats that know how to jam, if you know what I mean, brotha. The trombone is an excuse to put more instruments in 5th grade band classes.

Ugh, brass > woodwinds! Trombones are way better than saxophones.

You can never go wrong with sax, every good band at least draws influence from the sax, if not has some in their own music :-P

Sax. Besides the fact that it's cooler, there's more options of what to play. I marched alto, but played bari for concert. I like the range of the tenor better, though. (Soprano is a redesigned clarinet :p )

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING out-cools a bari sax. If it wasn't so frickin' expensive, I'd have bought one by now.

Well, my name should say it... Trombone is cooler...why? Because they tried 5 times to get the Saxophone right!! Let's see, there's a Tenor Trombone and a Bass Trombone...hmm....which is a tenor except it has an option for more tubing for lower notes....sounds like logical sense to me...Trombone....BIOTCHES!!!

I play every brass instrument in a wind choir. Woodwinds suck. I can play Alto and Baritone sax, flute, clarinet, and bass clarinet... They all suck. I'd much rather pick up an E Trumpet if I had the choice... But the subject here is Trombone or Sucksaphone... And well... The Boner wins.

If you're judging on how cool the instrument itself is then trombone wins with flying colors as it is a nice sounding brass instrument that can play a variety of sound types and has a huge range (this is disregarding the fact that there are soprano alto tennor and bass trombones) where as a saxaphone only has a good jazzy sound and a wounded duck sound and no sax has nearly the range of the trombone.

If you're judging on how cool the person that plays the instrument is... Well let's just say in general that saxaphone players think they are cooler but are really mostly just egotisical nerds. In general trombone players don't care if they are cool and are hopelessly geeky. In other words, neither is cool. There may be about 1 in 10 players from each insturment that is actually someone that is really a cool person and not a jerk or major geek.
If curiosity killed the cat then perhaps Curious George killed the cat.
But Cat's do have nine lives so who knows?

All I have to say is that in our college marching band (Marching Mizzou) the trombones have the Low Brass Cheer(a modified version of the Hey Song), the Trombone cheer, Low Rider, and the Family Guy theme (yes folks, they arranged the Family Guy theme for their section, and they get to play it at the football games). The Saxophones have a really crappy wannabe-jazz tune they try to play, and everyone else always starts playing over them anyway. So Trombones are better.

However, if we were talking about the best section cheer song, it would most definately have to be the DABS (Drunk-***-Baritone-Section). By far the most fun of all the cheer songs.

Except for of course Hey Baby. Because tubas rule just that much.

Trombone all the way. And I say this as a woodwinder (bassoon. >_>)

I have three points
- Now, both saxaphones and trombones are frequently in ska bands, but trombones are more common, and they sound cooler.
- Also, like most high winds, saxes just sound whiny, while 'bones are deep and have a full sound.
- Finally, trombone players look much cooler when they play standing. Saxaphone players have to stand there all scrunched up and stationary in case they break their reed, but trombone players can dance around and extend their arms. Much cooler.

It's all about brass and percussion. Trombone is one of the coolest instruments ever.

But for the real deal: Drum and Bugle corps. Sorry, but in this case, you both lose because there are no woodwinds and the trombone isn't a bugle.
