Nifty. As long as it handles the next SSB game perfectly, Nintendo could use a mangled chicken as a controller and I'd still buy it.

Holy Crap!!

This not only gave me a reason to want the Revolution, but also to give a **** about Next Gen in general.

I mean, if you can actually use old GC controllers with it....theres just no reason to not be happy!
The tired anthem of a loser and a hypocrite.

First off, there is a name for a 3d mouse. It's called a bat. (Flying rodent, see? Gotta love compsci humour).

Second off, everyone who says this is a bad move by Nintendo I disagree with. Nintendo are differentiating themselves from the competition. Sony and Microsoft are battling it out for graphical supremacy. Nintendo, as evidenced by the Gamecube's comparatively poor graphical capabilities, can't compete with them on that score. So they come up with innovative gaming.

It started with the DS - they rather sensibly realised there was no way they could take on a portable offering from Sony, so they didn't try and make something that was going to be the same as the PSP when it got to market. I must admit, I expected something more conventional from the Revolution, I didn't really consider the direction Nintendo had marked out with the DS.
2005-09-16, 12:19 AM #46
The Revolution has 4 ports for Gamecube controllers on the back.
2005-09-16, 12:44 AM #47
I'm having a hard time seeing this work well with the new SSB. However, as long as the GC controller works with this new SSB, I'll be happy. But, if they mess up SSB's controls, there will be hell to pay.

This, this  I can't find words. This is the first time in years I am seriously considering to buy a game console.

Or better yet, I want this for my PC (and Sith2 support ;))!

Another problem I see now is development for the console. A lot of video game companies (EA) are looking to move volume of games. If they have to specialize their input code for something this revolutionary, then they'll most probably decide the extra time isn't worth it. Because face it, despite a few minor differences, the Xbox and PS3 controllers will be very similar. Analog sticks and buttons. The are no motion sensors or any other gadgets to plan for. Nintendo will probably continue doing a lot of in-house development, but whether or not their games will succeed yet remains to be seen.

Actually, Square Enix, Namco, Hideo Kojima, (Yes that's right) and a few other people / companies said they really wanted to make games for the revolution. I think it was Namco that said they weren't deticated to one console, but to all three no matter what. (I am sure about Square Enix and Hideo Kojima, but Namco might be another company I am thinking of >.<)

As for the controller itself, I am excited in the traditional sense (uncertain but optomistic). It could turn into a DS (which hasn't seem to caught on ), and/or it could just not work well. But if it does work... :-D

Did you see that crazy video Geb? It showed a kid slashing away with the controler, and you could hear swords in the background hitting and killing and oh god it was awesome. Also it shows how Nintendo wants to get EVERYONE to play games, where they show old people and little children playing as well as teenagers and adults. Then when that kid was shooting a gun all around the room. My god, this is awesome.

IMO, it might be awkward at first, it will defintley be a great controller. Although it's not gonna change my opinion on getting both PS3 and Revolution.
No sig.

I don't care about N. Revolution, perhaps it will be good and have great games, perhaps the controller will be okay.

You're still hypocrites.

See what madness his Rainbow Coallition name causes when you quote him. I would say he needs to fix the flaw or lose his pretty name.

I MUST HAVE A REVOLUTION! This kickass new controller, SSB (it practically SOLD the GCN), and it'll just be...revolutionary!

I also hope the DS becomes a valid controller of some type, because that'd be so sweet, like LoZ:4 Swords...and think of what will happen to WarioWare now?

I've got to have a Revolution, but after that I'm going for a 360. *cries tears of happiness*
I had a blog. It sucked.

Besides, I don't see how it CAN'T work. It doesn't seem hard to still play it 'traditionally' and even if the particular controller doesn't work the same, a "normal" controller could easily come out for it. Even if it can't be a 'normal' controller though, I don't care. My faith was wavering in Nintendo, but they just proved to me they still have it.

Actually, the DS is doing very very well.

I'll still take the 360 over that.

It has the games I'll play. It's that simple for me. I go where the games I enjoy are.

True, but since it's backwards compatable with the HD, I already have a full library of titles I know I'll play. And so far, their release lineup looks to have a few things I'd like to pick up.

The 360 is only backwards compatible with selected games Microsoft chooses if I recall.

And you have to have the hard drive. Can't just use the core unit.

I thought the controller looked stupid at first, and it looked like carpal-tunnel waiting to happen, but we shall see. Either way I'm probably never going back to consoles.

God forbid Nintendo try something different, unlike every single other console out there. I think it's refreshing to have a change for once, and if people don't like it, they should buy an XBox360 or PS3 :p

This is the most interesting and innovative looking controller that I've seen. Personally, I've always thought that Nintendo had the best controllers, and don't see any reason to believe it will be any different this time around.

Yes, but it is based on Ninteno saying there will be a cradle, so tehr will be some sort of 'classic' controller attachement. its simply the exact form we don't know about.

Yeah, when it very fist came out, PSP beat the pants off it, with better releases and better graphiscs and such. However, PSP has begun to stagnate, while the DS has started getting soem relaly good, innovative titles, and so has begun beating the PSP. At least, according to PA.

Meaning what Obi?

Are you referring to the ability to produce graphics, product quality as in the controllers break, etc

Meaning he doesn't like the controller...
