More stuff on controller, this time the shell.

Somehow this reminds me of Dreamcast.

the truly great thing about the analog stick attachment is that it makes no difference if you're leftie or rightie.

Im a lefty and I use a controller normally... What is the problem with lefties who cant play? I never had a problem.

i'm leftie and i've never had a problem either, but having the choice is an accessibility bonus for Nintendo to play up.

The shell thing is a smart move.

[edit: I just realized that this thing might be a problem for places like best buy that have demo consoles out for people to play with .. they usually lock the controller in place with a metal thing -- even with the ps2/360 wireless controllers they can still do that. If they're demoing a game that RELIES on the controller moveability, how the heck are they going to secure it? hah

[waits for dreamacast controller addon :D]

Ah good old DC. How i miss you.

I've gotta say that it sounds interesting, but it hardly souns like a bat, so much as it sounds like a combo of a light-gun and a mouse (on a vertical surface). Still, it intrigues me. But how hard will it be to aim (will the games have a crosshair? or will it just be point and shoot like the controlls for Metroid Prime: Hunters on the DS?)

they'll probably release a thick metal shell for the remote part that gets tethered to the booth.
Yes, but it is based on Ninteno saying there will be a cradle, so tehr will be some sort of 'classic' controller attachement. its simply the exact form we don't know about.

Yeah, when it very fist came out, PSP beat the pants off it, with better releases and better graphiscs and such. However, PSP has begun to stagnate, while the DS has started getting soem relaly good, innovative titles, and so has begun beating the PSP. At least, according to PA.
That's BS, though. Sales still show the PSP doing quite well, slowly closing the gap. 350,000 units apart, but Sony's sold MUCH more software and peripherals.

I think that was based on Sales figures, but I'm not sure. In fact, I haven't heard or read anything about it's backwards compatability in quite awhile. I seem to remember something about it working with the mass percentage of the released titles though.

I already said that. I know, last I checked it was 350,000 units, so the PSP closed the gap even MORE. But you can't forget the DS had quite the lead on the PSP, and everyone knew the fact that it came out a month and a half before christmas would affect sales ratios.

No it won't. Period.
I'm play testing, and can confirm that only the huge x box games (things like halo, halo2, splinter cell, the huge xbox live games) are going to be compatible (like is said repeatedly in many an article). It may or may not even be perfect compatibility

You're testing a 360? Interesting.

Tons of Microsoft employees, as well as internal and contracted QA staff, have been given access to the Xbox 360. I don't think they're supposed to let their families use them, but I don't think it's actively discouraged either.

Compos Mentis - are you still using the debug unit, or has Microsoft given out retail units to QA?
2005-09-18, 1:22 PM #95
retail
as long as none of this info is externally linked or given out I'm ok sharing a little bit, but I'm under NDA so I'm not giving out anything major.

I will say that the controller > ess-controller. AND we had 26 wireless ones in a single room and they worked spotlessly.

I believe that was one of the versions of the X-Box controller, wasn't it?

-I remember my friend (who has an X-Box) talking about S-Controllers and F-Controllers. I'm a gamecube guy with a custom one, though, so... ya know...
