It most certainly does have the same awesome! that the demo does, and has a lot of it.. but it also has quite a lot of not-so-awesome! stuff too. Unnecessary GTA3-style drive-around-a-little-city gets quite boring largely because the vehicles aren't nearly as good for real driving and it generally wants to be GTA3 a little too much. But beyond that, the missions are total fun, it's just a shame that there's the tedious filler material inbetween.

I read that there's an option to completely skip the driving bits in between missions.

Theres no way I could just rent this the once and be content. Just the demo alone has so much replay value. I've already clocked quite a few hours on it. I'd still be playing it now if my video card didn't fry

Can't wait to get the replacement so I can play Overdose again.

Hmm. I haven't found that. Although you can take taxis, which speed things up considerably.
